I have read a book in high school but can't remember what the title of it is.  Here are some details:

I remember that the book is of the sci-fi genre that involved a main character that was raised (in seclusion?) to master a skill for war games amongst their enemies.  I believe that the team involved only one or two other children but they were also raised to master their chosen crafts.  The children were raised unknowingly that they were to be put into warfare defending their galaxy/race/planet but learned this fact as they went along.  I believe the main character's skill was to move things quickly and accurately with his fingertips on a screen or some 3D-like image.

After doing some research I thought that it was Ender's Game but I am reading it now and realize that this is not the book I have previously read.  The book I read was a paperback and had a boy in a blue spacesuit/uniform on the cover of it.

This has been bothering me for a while so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction!  Thanks!!

That sounded like Enders Game to me also. Here's a pic of the copy we had.

Yup, I realized that Ender's Game does have a cover fitting that description so maybe that just influenced my memory of the cover... but I did just finish Ender's Game, which is a great book btw, and this was not the book I was trying to find. any other ideas??

Because I know how much this can drive a reader crazy, I've been trying my hardest to track the title down for you. Now it's driving me crazy lol. When were you in high school? Can you remember anything else about the plot?

Haha, thanks for you help James.  I read this book around 2002-2004 but I have no idea if the book was new at all (but not any newer than 2004 I guess).

I pretty much mentioned everything I can remember about the plot already. One other thing of note is that there were other teams of 2 or 3 children that were raised to do same thing against them. So basically each group/country/race had their own selected team of children that they trained since birth to "compete" against each other in this game/war.  I'm sorry if my descriptions are not too detailed but this is all I can remember.

Thanks for all your help!!

Aaron, I haven't come up with much of anything just yet, but the extra info has been a little bit helpful. While searching, I've begun to wonder if it's possible you read a collection that included the original short story of Ender's Game, which differs from the novel slightly. I thought it worth checking, so here's a link to a page that lists its publication history, perhaps a collection title will ring a bell.
