an ex-coworker had me sign up for mypoints.com a while back and I'd sorta let it slide after signing up but just by answering some questions I can get 5 pts or so.today I signed up for mysurvey.com and got a few more but just wondering..seems like it's not too hard to do esp here at work while waiting for stuff to finish up and possible switching my online book ordering(new) from amazon to barnes and noble since B&N gives 10 pts per dollar and amazon is zip..not that I order a whole lot of stuff since I'm trying to cut back. but I saw some of the things you can get with the pts though it takes a lot of ps..$25 borders gc for 3450 pts, $10 b&N gc for 1400 pts..now granted I'm still only at just under 400 pts but I really haven't done anything with it until today and got 140 pts just sitting here clicking on stuff they had. If my work didn't filter out certain links I could've gotten even more.

anyways, I've heard of something called ebates on another forum and was just wondering what simple things like this are worth doing? of if this is even worth doing?!

Yep, somewhere in this forum there's a thread on MyPoints and a lot of people chiming in saying they do it. I just got a $10 Target card in the mail from them today. I definitely recommend it.

I haven't heard of my points but I know I love doing the little extras to make my money stretch...I do a thing called swagbucks sounds similiar I think. You just download their search engine to your computer (they use google and ask!) and the bucks add up just for searching your normal everyday stuff. I already have 191 ! My kids and husband do it too (they have more than I do!) I will include the link -hope it works- and where can I sign up for the my point thing?   http://swagbucks.com/?cmd=sb-register&rb=298044 good luck

mypoints.com is where I signed up. I get points if I refer you but my coworker forgot about this and missed out on the pts. I'd probably have to have your email addy for the referral but go check it out and I won't get mad if you sign up there! they do send a lot of emails and when you log on you'llsee mini surveys and just answering and letting it go to the website will usually give you 5 pts then I close the screen and go to the next one unless it's something I'm really interested in.

some examples I jotted down are : approx 5 pts for answering a single question or 2 and letting it go to that link then backing out, online shopping at amazon is zero pts per dollar spent, barnes and noble online is 10 pts per dollar spent , newegg is 1 pt per dollar spent and redeeming pts you can get a $10 giftcard(gc) Banres and Noble for 1400 pts and amazon $25 gf is 3750 pts..so it does take quite a few pts but I'm curious to see how long it'll take me to accumulate e nough for some gift cards!

I've been doing MyPoints for years. I click on emails but I don't do surveys. If I'm consistant in clicking on the emails I can get get 3-4 gift cards per year. Not much but still, it's free.

If I shop I can rack up points quickly but I don't do a lot of online shopping.

Yep, been a member for years!  I do the e-mail clicks for five point each, and I TRY to remember to click through the my points links when I do online shopping.  I'm always forgetting though and I drives me nuts when I realized I could have made a big chunk of points!  I usually save mine up and redeem them in November for Christmas gifts... either giving the card itself as a gift, or using it to buy something for someone.  I usually make between $50 -$100 per year which is nice for something that takes very little effort.

After reading all that you've related here, I'm sorry I never followed through with this years ago.  I'll have to see if my account is still active.  Its been years since I signed up.  Doubt I would even remember my account info.  Likely would have to sign up again...like I said, after reading how you are all making out with it, I may need to go give this another look.

Recently I signed up for swag dollars and downloaded the toolbar.  Managed to rake up over 50 points in a month just on searches. Can get more if I shop with there vendors, however not doing much shopping these days.

I've done MyPoints since last Fall when I saw it recommended on PBS. I've earned over $50 worth of certificates but there is a lot of email. I'm saving the certificates for Christmas.

I also do Swagbucks http://swagbucks.com/?cmd=sb-register&rb=330554 which I prefer to My Points. You earn prizes like Amazon certificates by downloading the toolbar and doing searches, referring friends, entering codes, etc. It's easier than MyPoints and no spam. =)

I do mypoints and swagbucks, and I really like earning free prizes. It's worth it.

Carol, I doubt I'll shop through there but from time to time I DO shop with B&N and overstock.com (just won't go browsing without a reason ya know?!) but I can sit and work and click on the 5 pt thingies until I run out..that's easy to do while waiting for stuff to finish here when I'd be browsing anyways. some I could click on and sign up for emails but work filters out stuff that comes up as 'download' or advertisement..some will get through but others get blocked so oh well. one this morning I can't go to the sponsor site so will have to remember to try the link at home tonight so I get the pts.

I've been a member of MyPoints (and BonusMail, which I think merged with MyPoints years ago) for over a decade.  I have only made one purchase through a link on the site (some ink refills for my printer).  I do go through my email acocunt every few weeks and click on the link in any of the emails that haven't expired and sometimes sign up for the ones that don't require any purchase.  I would estimate that those email links generate about $20 in gift certificates for me each year.  It's not a whole lot of money, which is probably why I let so many of them expire before I get around to opening the emails, but it is free and painless.  You absolutely can get gift certificates from them without ever buying anything, so there is nothing to lose if you want to give it a try.  I have redeemed my MyPoints for Barnes and Noble Certificates, gas cards, and gift cards for restaurants like Olive Garden.

I like mysurvey. It's not a lot of money, but it's fun.   Unlike other survey sites I see you do get something for every survey--even if you don't qualify for the longer one, you always get a few points.  If you have kids I think it would be really nice--they are always asking if I've had kids yet and the referral page mentions families with small chilldren are desired.   If you'd like to join, I'd love the referral--the don't have a web link, though, I have to send you an email.

I have no kids, but I get $20-$40 a year probably. Sometimes there are lots of surveys for me, sometimes not so many.   Most are short, and the long ones warn you in advance.  They have a likely time at the beginning of each survey which is nice.

If I'm buying things I go through BigCrumbs http://www.bigcrumbs.com/crumbs/landing.do?r=kayote&s=45102   It gives me cash back to my PayPal account and has rewards for buying on eBay.  Since I buy not much online, I don't get a lot from them.  When I do buy it tends to be on eBay so it's nice to get a few pennies back.

I signed up for one of those email click things once and figured out I'd have a broken wrist before I made enough points from the free emails to be worth it.   Mypoints doesn't sound quite as bad, maybe if work is slow I'll try it.

I use mypoints and get all my gift cards from there.  Love it.  If anyone wants more info on it PM me and I can email some

I also do a few different surveys that pay in cash once you've accumulated a certain amount of points.  It takes about 6 months for me to get $10 but its an easy $10 that I can earn while sitting with my feet up watching TV filling out a 10 min survey so it works for me

I downloaded the search toolbar for mypoints and also swagbucks and ever since I've noticed my internet connection acting weird..not wanting to open or getting 'bogged down' every so often. but I keep doing it 'cause I wanna see if I end up with any free stuff! so far I've only done some searches on each and opening hte emails..I did sign up for sparkpeople and almost signed up for sharebuilder but I just dont want another financial account to keep track of unless it's a straightforward savings account that offers something free like ingdirect does..just wish I couldt alk my friends into lettingme send their name and email and they'd get 25 bucks and i'd get 10 but the minimum changed to 1000 I think for the free money to  kick in...when I joined I got 25 bucks just for putting 10 bucks in the account! I didnt' use it a whole lot itl the past few years and now I'm trying to build that up for my emergency savings.

but I figure little things like opening emails I can do at work. the only problems are when something is animated/audio or my work filters it out and blocks it.

so far no shopping through the links though I will if I make an online purchase this year that has one of their stores.

hey I've already gotten over 750 points and haven't done any shopping(I think some of the $10 gift cards are around 1500 pts) of course a lot are pending out of that 750(only about 500plus available) because they allow cancellation, etc but I did download the toolbar at home and sign  up for sparkpeople.com which Iwanted to do anyways. mostly just opening emails from them.

My mom told me I should and for a while I just ignored the whole thing, but I have since got into it and have a lot of points just by surveys and going to a website.  It's easy money!

I still do mypoints and every once in a while ebates, but my favorite rewards program is quickrewards (dot net). They credit my account much faster than my points and you can cash out at any time, for any amount, for either gift certificates or paypal. I earn about 10 cents a day solely through clicking links on their site. They also have a ton of free participation offers (but make sure you use a separate junk email if you do any of these or you'll get loads of spam) and surveys. And, of course, they provide cash back on shopping through their site. Quickrewards customer service is also great. This is a very nice program.

I've been a member of mypoints for several years: yes its a lot of clicking but I think its worth it.  And if you can remember to check out their merchants before you buy online, and use their links to the merchant, the points do add up quickly.  Love anything free and this has given me several $$$$ in amazon and b&n dollars.

I also do inbox dollars: anyone else try them?

I do my points but usually just clicking on the emails. It took me a few yeas but I worked my way up to a $50 gift card to Home depot. Sometimes I think it is not worth it, but then other times I think what the heck.
