I am curious about books by Dana Stabenow.  I want to start reading her series, but wanted input.  If anyone has deals on any of her books, I would appreciate them.

Thanks!

I read one or two of the first of her series a few years back....I wasn't overly impressed and didn't carry on with it. But I know people who do like her a lot. It's all a matter of taste I guess.

I've not read them either but I have often wondered about them.  Hers is the series that takes place in Alaska, right?  I really like Nevada Barr so I keep thinking I'll like Dana Stabenow too but I've not yet made the time to actually read one of her books.  If you decide to take the jump, report and tell us what you think.

Yes, they are set in Alaska.  I like Nevada Barr, Jessica Speart, and James W. Hall, so thought I would probably like her , too.

I've read quite a few.  I've enjoyed them and on my massive TBR pile I have the newer books crying out to me.  She has two series, Kate Shugak
and Liam Campbell.  Kate is an independent woman who races on the Idarod Trail and Liam Campbell is a trooper.  The books take place in Alaska.

Kate's story begins with her alone with her "dog" who is more wolf than dog.  Through the series she progresses to not quite so alone.  Not with a man but with more people in her life without giving anything away since that progrsses over several of the books.

I've read more of Kate than Liam though I do like them both.

The descriptions of Alaska and life in the boonies of Alaska were a bit eye opening for me!

I loved all of the Nevada Barr books and have kept them to reread

I tried to read Stabenow -- I just couldn't get interested in that series--

Of the two series - I like the Kate series better!

She is one of the few authors that I collect

I have read a couple of them but that was a while ago.  From what I remember they were great.

Thanks for the input.  Now if I could find someone that will do a deal.

I have read all of the Kate books and enjoyed them. Don't have any of them to pass on though.
