What do you think of The Perfect Poison? I have enough on  my gift card to buy it, but don't want to rush out until I know what folks think - any reviews?

Have you read the rest of the Arcane Society books? I'm going to assuming you have and answer accordingly :-) I liked Perfect Poison better than the other Quick stories in this particular series. IMO felt like an earlier Quick work, (which I happen to like) a solid romance with a determined, spunky heroine and slightly brooding hero. What I liked best about this book, compared to the other Quick Arcane books, is that the villian and his diabolical plot stayed in the background and didn't try to take over the story.

I don't buy HB books, I wait for the PB version. I checked the book out of my local library.  All in all it was a fun read and a one of the better Arcane books. Hope this helps, have fun spending that gift card!

I got it from the library.  I liked it.  But not worth buying in HB for me.

Yeah, that's my problem with gift cards- I want to spend them well since I don't get them often. A bunch of paperbacks? A hardback and maybe on paperback? A whole bunch of used paperbacks? Decisions decisions.

I enjoyed it, but got it from the library.  It's not one of my keeper books.  Pat

Everytime I read one of the arcane books I'm left slightly disappointed.  They should be so much my type of book.  But I keep missing the humor of her earlier books.  I'd recommend Affair or Ravished over the more recent.  I still read and enjoy them.  Just not keepers.  Which is kinda ironic as I have a huge paranormal streak in my reading tastes.

I loved it! I bought it. I buy all her stuff. I actually buy all her stuff in audio AND hardcover. :) I like her as Jayne Castle and Jayne Ann Krentz, too. The Perfect Poison was delightfully funny, to me. I love her characters. I find all her books quite funny, the old ones and the new ones. I love them on audio as well. The people doing the reading are great, and that has led me to new authors as I seek out other things read by those people. My favorites are the Ghost Hunter series, because I adore the otherworldly stuff, and those dustbunnies are just charming.

I listened to it on CD which I checked out from the library. I enjoyed it, but in some ways it felt similar to the other Arcane books. Do I regret listening to it? Absolutely not! I have enjoyed all the Arcane books, but am glad I got it from the library-my favorite source for books that I don't want to purchase.

Amanda Quick AKA Nora Roberts is always entertaining, but Perfect Poison was missing the usual zest. It's still entertaining, but not enough to buy. Somehow it felt as if vital elements were missing. It didn't grip me as most Amanda Quick/Nora Roberts books do.
