Back in Nov. of 07 someone asked about this Book.  I posted it on the Romantic Times forum.

"I'm thinking it's one of the white cover harlequins though not 100% sure and seems like I read it in the mid 90s early 90s. It's one of their 'kidnapped' themes (OK probably doesn't narrow it down much huh?!) in this one the guy kidnaps the girl and takes her to an island. She's kidnapped because her father wanted him to do it but he doesn't let the guy tell her this. She of course tries to escape and I remember the one scene where she fixes the bed to look like she's in it but she's behind the curtains/open window and he can tell because one curtain is moving with the breeze and the other one isn't. he doesn't say anything but follows to see how she's planning on leaving and it's by boat.

Not sure what else went on but I want to get the title and find a copy for sentimental reasons..one of the early reads I remember sticking with me. and for some reason I think it had a white cover though not sure and probably kidnap or hostage in the title or one of those popular authors at the time..."

Someone replied.  If you are the person, is this part of the plot?

"I read that one a long time ago...didn't the hero think that she was underage, like 16 or so, and for that reason agreed to kidnap her, because she was working in a bar or a casino or some shady place like that?"

Here's the site if you want to pick her brain:

That was me! nope, she wasn't 16 that I remember. I remember the hero wanted to tell her it was because of her father so she'd know. wish I could remember more but I just rememeber that scene where she was hiding behind the curtain and he could tell she was there because the window was open and one curtain was blowing with the wind and the other wasn't..figure if I'm every gonna hide behinda curtain that would be good to know!

I"m prety sure iwas a harlequin with the white cover and a popular author at the time...sigh...

I think the hero in the book she mentions THOUGHT the woman was 16.  Very young looking but definately old enough.

Could you be forgetting that?

I know how frustrating this is,  I wish you could remember an author!  It's gonna bug me now too. LOL

yeh, at the time I sorta skimmed through the books pretty quickly..I know he wasn't happy about it so that might have been the reason...maybe her dad lied to him or something..but they end up together after she got un-pissed enough! so yep I could easily be forgetting that..seems like when he picked her up that s he thought he was the driver or something but not sure...sigh..

We may have finally found this book for you.  Thanks to the Ladies at Romantic Times,  Ash in particular.

She thinks it's Beware of the Stranger by Janet Dailey.   What do you think?

 Here's a cover pic:   http://www.fictiondb.com/author/janet-dailey~beware-of-the-stranger~9813~b.htm

And here's the post where Ash figured it out at RT:      http://www.romantictimes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=160060#160060

THANKS! It could be it since Janet Dailey is an author my mom read a LOT and I probably sneaked it out of her book stash....I'm gonna order it anyways! I need to get some of her older ones I read...I haven't bought her  new ones after the plagiarism fiasco thingy..can't get it out of my head plus don't know if they're good or not anyways but she had some older ones from harlequin that I did like, like 'a little luck' I think was one that was pretty good..

anyways, this one i keep thinking about but just couldnt' think of the title or author.
