I was thinking about the last book in the series and it actually ends in a manner that would allow J.K. Rowling to continue to write about this magical wizarding world. When I finished the book, I thought that maybe she would (a few years from now) decide to write about the life of the next generation at Hogwarts and feature the orginal generation as adult characters. I thought it would be interesting..

Does anyone think she will ever give it a try?

No clue, but I hope so!  What an amazing imagination that woman has.

She left things wide open for a follow-up series; so I think when the time is right she probably will revisit the world.

There was a rumor when the last book came out that Rowling was thinking of writing a prequel to the series, involving James and Lily and the rise of Voldemort.  But then again, she was flip-flopping back and forth, so who knows now....

I read on the internet that back in 2007-2008 she claimed that she may continue the series, but wanted to give the decision some thought...10 years of thought. That  means  that I will be 32 years old (I was 22 in 2007) when she  possbly releases a new book.

I think a prequel about James, Lily and all those characters has a ton of potential! I hope she does. I would rather read that than her trying to write about future characters.

I think I remember reading somewhere online that JKR said that she might consider revisiting Harry Potter in the future, but she didn't give any time lines nor did she give any specific details about future books.

I would actually like to see her write more of the textbooks that Hogwarts' students use.  I know she wrote "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" several years ago, and I would like to see more of the same.

She said in a recent Oprah interview that she might BUT it would not be about Harry, so either prequel OR about his kids OR just in that wizarding world.

I would love some prequels. Maybe even pre-James/Lily/Valdemort.  Like Dumbledor's youth or earlier.

I hope she doesn't make a prequel because James and Lily die at the end! Sequel yes prequel no.

I wouldn't mind a prequel to know how Lord Voldermort came about and how James and Lilly's love saved Harry Potter.

Renee- they say how Lord Voldermort came about and where he was from and that was just as twisted growing up.

I think it would be cool if she did a kind of spin-off series of some of the supporting characters in their adult lives - like Neville and Luna, or Charlie Weasley and his adventures with the dragons. Especially Neville, since he acheived great things while being just a mediocre wizard, and also because, had things been different, he could have been in Harry's position.
