I hadn't realized the deadline is so close -- February 17th. I have some big time reading to do to finish all the 2008 contenders before then!

I'm going to cast a vote, but there is no way that I'll be able to fill in one for all of the categories! It'll be fun to see what the results are ;-)

I just voted & promptly forgot what categories I voted in:P  I cast some votes for Duke of Shadows & Delicious, The Price of Desire, Seduce Me at Sunrise, and I can't think of what else.  *The* author I gave up on last year (although there were several:P) was Lisa Valdez.  Just got tired of waiting for her to get that stupid book out:P

I have several too, but I think my vote will go to Brenda Joyce.

I usually send my ballot at once but this yr I'm gonna be strategic and just vote from the interim results to push some of my faves over. My #1 faves never win these things anyway.

Was there something that showed early results somewhere, or was I hallucinating?  It's hard to tell sometimes, but I thought I saw lists posted somewhere:P

I vote but usually last minute since I always have a few left to get caught up on before deciding.  I have 3 of yours on my list Kim, still need to read the last Bourne, Duran, Judith James and a few others before I decide.  Harder this year too as they changed the ballot and cut out some categories, so you can't get in some of your runner-ups like before.  This year too there's a split between Uk and non-UK, which is confusing some if a book is set in two places, like Bourne in UK and France.  You have to voite in at least 6 to get ballot counted but any 6 will do.  Interim results should be up soon, haven't seen any yet.

I thought I read somewhere that the split settings should be non-UK setting.  Somebody, some darned where on the AAR board asked about this.  I know there was a question about Spymaster's Lady, and one of the ballot counters said they could vote for it in that category.  I thought of Untamed by Pamela Clare as being the most obvious non-UK set historical, since they don't have a category for American historicals.  It's probably going to hurt books, like Duke of Shadows, that have dual settings.  At least they do have the best romance & debut author categories though.

They said Spymaster's most people were putting it in for UK setting.  I thought the same, Kim, the split might hurt some books.  Last year they did a  paranormal and a sci-fi/fantasy which caused some books to get votes in both which could affect settings, this year only the one paranormal, and some wish they had the sci-fi category still.

If you like to vote in these type of polls, may be too late for this year (have to be a member by a certain date), there are the Pearl awards for para/fantasy/sci-fi awards where they split into several categories.  Members are now nominating their faves in each, unlimited, then a list is selected from those for finalists for voting after. Have to register by 1/28 to nominate and vote:
