I have more credits on the Frugal Reader site than I can use right now.  There are more books on PBS that I want than on Frugal Reader right now.

Anyone want to swap credits from PBS for FR credits?

I have 10 extra credits that I can swap if anyone is interested.

I did not see any other area to post something like this.  If there is a better area to post, please point me in the right direction to post this.

Thanks, Susie

Can someone clue me in as to what these other points are?  Are there other websites like paperbackswap out there?  I'm always in need of credits here so if I can get points elsewhere to swap someone let me know.

Thanks,

Lu

Hi Lu,

The frugalreader.com is another book swap place.  I am on both sites, but lately I see more books on PBS that I want, but have been sending more books to frugal readers...so I have too many points on Frugal Reader.

I can't help with the other point places.  I think I looked at posh points and decided it was not something I would use.

There are more sites like PBS.  Frugalreader.com is one I am a member of also, but I like Bookmooch.com a little better.  You get instant credits for books that are requested and you also get partial credit for books you post.  For example: Each book you post to give is 1/10th of a credit.  10 books get you 1 credit (or book request from another member).

They keep everyone one honest by making each person meet a required ratio...like if you are ordering books you also have to be mailing them out.  You can't just order 10 books and not have any sent or marked received.  There are also quite a few books.

On BOTH sites I use the same username: tandknix.  You can look me up if you want!

No one mentioned this before so I thought it was ok.  Is this written in the rules somewhere?  I see that credits are swapped on the other trade site.

I will go look at the rules again, but wonder why it is a problem.

I am trying to trade FR credits to get PBS credits.  Not trading PBS credits.  Not sure if that makes a difference, but I am trying to get the PBS Credits.  Of course that means someone else would be trading the PBS credits.

Confused...Susie

Here it is Posted By Robert S. of R&R on 10/12/07:

All right, here is the PBS Team word on this.

You can sell your PBS Credits here.  (And this should be done in the Book Bazaar, [removed text referring to other forums])

You cannot sell anything else.

That means that [name removed], you could have posted "Anyone want to sell me some credits?  Contact me by PM if so," and then in Personal Messages explained what you are willing to pay.  But you should not post a topic selling anything for credits.  If in PM negotiations anyone was willing to accept the currency of another site for PBS credits, then you could make the exchange.

It is a small point, but there you have it.  Don't hawk your wares (whatever they are) for credits.   But you can ask if anyone is looking to sell credits, and negotiate payment with them privately.

We are sure someone else will find a way to do the above inappropriately somehow, and we will hear from members again asking us to clarify, but for now this is the ruling.

I am not trying to sell any credits from PBS, so I would not post credits for sale as the credits I have are from FR site.

But you are saying I should say does anyone want to sell me credits and then when I talk to the I tell them what I really want to do is trade FR credits for PBS credits?

It seems like it would be annoying to people for me to do this, as they are expecting me to be buying credits. And then you run into people who will start complaining that you are not supposed to do this..it is against the rules. That would probably cause even more trouble with some people.

It sure is hard to follow the rules when you can't find the rules to begin with.

Thanks,  Susie

Yes I suspect it would totally annoy people when they contacted you that you wanted to pay them in credits from other sites. But it is in Robert's power to say no selling of anything but PBS credits, yet he is kind enough to spell out a way around his own rule.

Not sure if it's written in any rules anywhere, but R&R have mentioned on numerous occasions that it is in bad taste to mention the other book swapping sites in the forums.

So the mention of the other book swappping sites PLUS the buying and selling of credits for something other than money could leave a poor taste in the mouths of some readers of this thread.
