Fourth book in a 4 book series regarding modern day superheros. They were all fun to read and best read in order. I hate reading a book and finding out that there were other books regarding the characters that were done prior: The order is: Aphrodite's Kiss, Aphrodite's Passion, Aphrodite's Secret and Aphrodite's Flame.

Aphrodites Flame by Julie Kenner
Protectors/Superhero Series Book 4 (6th story)
Mordichai Black didnt have much going his way. His Outcast Protector father hated mortals and Mordi was a Halfling. His mortal mother considered him a freak and sent him to his loveless evil father. Mordi was caught up in a world of wanting to be a good Protector and yet yearning his fathers affection. Finally he realized that only one of those things would be possible for him.

Isole Frost had to face the fact that other Protectors believed that she didnt earn her status as a Protector or her new promotion, but that it had been handed to her as the niece of the High Elder. On top of all that she now has a high profile case of an Outcast she needs to test to see if he really is a good guy now and can be reinstated to the Council. And then theres the handsome guy working with her whos dangerous to her in more than one way.

Mordi is one of those characters whos been in most all of the books. You can see where the war between good and evil is fought within him and that hes just a lost little boy. You rooted for him to do the right thing, but his desire for Dearest Daddys love was just too strong. It made this story all the more exciting. As with the previous books the author brings in the other characters. Its been my favorite kind of series as they had roles in their own books as well as the other stories. The final story is in the Anthology: These Boots Were Made for Stomping A Step in the Right Direction.

This story line just didn't do it for me...super heros saving the world while dealing with internal politics and bad villans...and of course, the inevitable male-female attraction element.

From the back cover:

Since his father was the worlds most super villain, Mordi was used to being bad. Hes helped his sire in countless plots, and only recently freed himself from the mans evil influence. But now his father was turning over a new leaf, joining the good gurs, just as Mordi met the woman of his dreams. How luck was that?

Bad boys? Isole wasnt used to them. At least not in this way. Usually, shes freeze em cold, but this time it was hard enough just keeping her cool. For years shed been a Protector, a superheroine, but a dark presence was trying to sway her allegiance. Worse, the best thing in her life since her first propulsion cloak was Mordi: a dark-haired hunk whose sweet green eyes belied a past and a pedigree of evil. He was gorgeous, and someone she could love. He made her burn with desire, and noting she did could put out the flames.
