In the 2jd fonnet, he fays, " who plead lor love, and textit{taut for recompence." From whom could he look for recompence, but from Elizabeth ? In the 25th fonnet he talks of thofe, who boaft oftextit{public honour, and textit{proud titles; and hints, that textit{fortune had textit{barred him of fuch triumphs: yet, confoles himfelf with recollecting the fate of textit{great princes favourites, who, at a textit{frown, oft in textit{their glory die. In the 3ift fonnet, he flatters her, by faying, "thybofom is endeared with all hearts." In the 36th fonnet, he bewails his fituation; as it might prevent her from textit{honiuring him with her textit{public kindnefs. In the 37th fonnet, he gives her pre-eminence of textit{beauty birth, wealth, and textit{wit: And in the the 38th fonnet, he heightens this panegyric, by fuggefting, that her accom- plilhments were textit{too excellent, for every textit{vulgar paper to re- bearfe. After fpeaking of her textit{beatify, and textit{bounty, in the 53d ionnu, he adds; "and textit{ysu in every textit{bleffed jbape, we know:" He then fpeaks of textit{the univerjality of her praifes, in the 6gth fonnet; and prophecies of the textit{eternity of her celebrations, in the 55th, and 5gth fonnets: All tongues, he tells, commend textit{her outward; but, even her foes commend the beauty of textit{her mind, which they textit{mcafure, by textit{her deeds.
