A really enjoyable mystery, with a truly detestable victim. Full of Agatha Christie's usual fun, vivid characterizations all taking place in a truly fantastic locale - I've been dying to go to Petra since I read it.

I enjoyed reading this one! I never once guessed who really did it! I love when I am kept guessing until the very end!

Hercule Poirot may be on vacation, but a killer isn't. The victim's a hateful tourist despised even by her own children. For the guests at the resort hotel, sympathies are with the murderer, which means a tough job for the Belgian detective.

Gods, the suspense! It kept me devouring every page. I just knew the ball would drop, but when? When it did, things got somehow even more exciting and I couldn't put the book down. The end certainly did surprise me, because the story has you following certain theories that may turn out to be wrong. The last chapter reminded me of the Epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but in a good way. Nice way to end things off.

"You see don't you, that she's got to be killed?" These were ominous words for Hercule Poirot to overhear on his first night in Jerusalem. And when a holiday tour of the Holy Land ends abruptly with murder, the words come back to haunt the legendary detective. The victim, Mrs. Boynton, had taken such pleasure in inflicting misery on her own family that everyone else on the tour had watched in horror as the tension built. Many people had a motive for murder...but the question is: Which one was desperate enough to kill? (Also a movie starring Lauren Bacall, Carrie Fisher, John Gielgud, Piper Laurie, Hayley Mills, and David Soul).
