I am trying something new this year. I am starting the reading challenge now in November instead of waiting for January 1. 2013 Challenge was a total flop in terms of actually reading my selections. By the time January 1 rolled around I wasn't interested in reading any of them. I read one book and then proceeded to go on a year long Stephen King binge instead. Looking back on my 2013 choices, I can see why. 2014 classic picks look a lot more interesting. I picked them because I actually want to read them and not because they fit some category. I think we are all free agents here. We get to do what we want to do. It's like Julia Child said. When you're alone in the kitchen and drop something on the floor who's to see. You can say you read everything on your challenge or you read S King all year. Who will know? |

Hooray for freedom and privacy! (But it's still fun to hear what books your friends are proud of, or ashamed of, being seen reading..... Of course, nobody has to tell .......... Last Edited on: 12/31/13 12:14 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

But the fun is in the honesty, the telling. This is not a shameful confession, but more of a this is how it went down this year and this is what I am doing to get more pleasure out of participation thread.

I didn't set out to do a challenge this year. It just so happened the books I read fit into the challenge list. ;)
