I am listing quite a lot of books that are unusual or old, so most of them don't have cover images or descriptions. I have been posting cover scans of a lot of them....probably about 100 so far. I made a note of a few of the ones I uploaded, and about a month later none of them have been approved or updated by the PBS team. Does this usually take that long? Are they getting rejected for some reason I don't know about? Would someone let me know if they were?

They are all .jpg images within the size guidelines with no extra white space around the edges. I have tried to remove price tags when I can without damaging the cover. (I would personally rather have a book with a small price tag on the cover than a white space or a tear where someone ripped one off.) I load the images from the 'Edit Book Data' link because usually I am typing in information from the back cover or entering size measurements as well.

Am I still doing something wrong?

(I have read other discussions on this in the forums, but haven't been able to find the exact answers I'm seeking)

Thank you for your time.

~Emily

usually only takes a few days.  how did you upload them?  you can't do it when entering a book without an ISBN number, I learned that the hard way.  You also can't do it via the edit function on the page.  You have to do it via the link at the bottom of the page that says Upload book covers.  it will bring up a screen and you can enter up to 5 ISBNs and then the image from your computer

ETA - ok, reread your post and the way you are uploading them is the problem.  You have to do it via the link at the bottom of the pages

Why do you have to do it that way, though? They give a button and an upload feature at the bottom of the Edit Book Data page...If they don't want you to use it, why even have it? And, I would think that having a photo or a cover scan of a book without an ISBN would help it trade faster. I certainly like to see what I'm 'buying'

Yep, Leslie has hit the nail on the head. I don't know why the link is still there, but with very rare exceptions, when you use the link on the edit page for an existing listing or a new listing, the image goes into cyberspace, drops out between the cyberholes, whatever, but they just go up in virtual smoke, and I never see them!!!

Images are generally approved within a few days and often within hours even. I know the queue has been cleared twice this weekend alone.

You will have to reupload anything thta is not showing on the listings at this point. Use the Upload Book Covers link that is at the bottom of all pages. It will take you to a place to input the ISBNs and browse to your computer for the image.

if your listing has a blue space holder icon for the cover image, usually you can just click on that and it will take you directly to the upload images page. Please only upload a few images and then wait until tomorrow to make sure the take (sometimes, we approve them, and then the system takes another day to actually place them) So, atleast tomorrow evening, maybe Tuesday AM. If they are not showing then, feel free to contact sarradee (Sarra B.) one of the coordinators for the Image Volunteer Team or myself. While I'm the Coordinator for the data team, I'm very knowledged in images and happy to share that information.

Emily, you are absolutely right that books move much faster with images and descriptions, whether they have an ISBN or not! As for why that broken link is on those pages, I cannot answer it, it's been broken for as long as I can remember. It's been sent in, and still not fixed, so I just try to tell people as often as I can to not use it. Unfortunately I know there are a lot of frustrated people that don't read the forums that are still trying to use it and getting nothing but frustration in return.

Sherry,

Thanks for answering my question. Does that also mean that when posting a book without an ISBN (from the Post Books page) that image falls into the cyber black hole as well?

I'm not Sherry but yes, the image goes into the black hole of cyberspace never to be seen again!

it doesn't make sense and I wish they would either fix it or remove it!
