There is a HC copy of Noah Gordon's The Physician available. I read this in January and LOVED it. It will definitely be one of my "best reads of 2008."

Jennifer, I have to agree.  I'm a little more than halfway through and it is EXCELLENT!  Highly recommended.

Glad you're liking it Kathy. The first 50 pages or so I was a little wary, thrown off by the name "Rob J. Cole." But once the story starts rolling, it's impossible to put down.

LOL, I know, Rob J. Cole sounds so 20th century.  I keep thinking Roy G. Biv.

I third (fourth?) the recommendations for Noah Gordon, I enjoy all his works.

<< The first 50 pages or so I was a little wary, thrown off by the name "Rob J. Cole.">>

The author makes this obvious because in the other 2 books in the trilogy (Shaman and Choices/Matters of Choice (UK/US title)) there are future generations of the Cole family (another Rob, a Roberta and others) practicing medicine as well.

Cheers,

Catt

Edited because I can't spell for beans today :-)
