I am so mad I'm having to edit this post with the actual question I had - why doesn't a WL request, cancelled by the sender, show up on my transaction archives? I'm absolutely livid. I've had the book Kessa on my WL for MONTHS, and finally it was posted and I accepted it immediately. I was so excited to finally be getting a copy of it. Then I get an email today that the book has been turned down because of my requestor conditions. My requestor conditions state: I require dust jackets on all hardcover editions of the Harry Potter books. Dust jackets on all other hardcover books are appreciated, but not required. Now the book I had requested was a paperback. The reason it was denied is "the book I have is a paperback, not a hardcover". Um, yeah, it isn't a Harry Potter book either, is it?!? Did my conditions say no paperbacks? Would I have had a paperback on my WL and have accepted it IF I DIDN'T WANT IT? If I had a wall handy I'd pound my head against it. And this isn't showing up on my transaction archive, and I can't PM the individual who did this. There was someone behind me on the WL and they are getting the book. You would think a website based on reading books would have people on it who, I don't know, maybe can actually READ!!! Okay, I've vented my frustrations a bit. I am just so disappointed. I did remove my conditions, so that if the person behind me on the WL turns it down, I might get a second chance at it.

I had something similar happen -- my conditions are pretty simple, too. I'm getting tired of people canceling a request just because they don't agree with requestor conditions "on principle". Regardless of what the conditions actually say. |

I know other people who have this condition have added a sentence that says something like "My conditions apply ONLY to hardbacks. If your book is a paperback, please just go ahead and accept the request". Frustrating to have to do so, but it may help. |

I think once they turn down your request because of RC you can't receive the book from that person. shame that they can't read the RC to know it doesn't apply to that book because it is not a hardback. sometimes I wonder how much common sense people have |

Cancelled transactions show in your archive, but not transactions that are turned down due to RCs. Maybe for this reason, no mad PMs from the people they are turning down. Yes they should have read your RC more closely and seen that it doesn't apply to their book, but some people are just very gun-shy about RCs in general. Unfortunately, the system will not allow that specific copy of the book to be offered to you again. For the future, you can turn your RCs on and off on certain transactions, might want to make sure to only have the HP condition on for transactions involving those books. |

I had that same problem far too many times as well (my RC is for DJ for all HBs as they are keepers for me). Below is a copy and paste of my new RCs after a slight overhall for ease of reading comprehension: If this request is for a paperback book: Thank-you for posting this, I have no special conditions for paperbacks. If this request is for a Hardback book: I prefer that the book include the dust jacket as these are for my home library. Thanks! Since the change, I have yet to have any PBs denied and had about 10 or so prior to the change. Best of luck :) |

I think everything is okay now - the system offered me the book again today. I have already removed my requestor conditions. I did get the senders information so that if something happens, I can contact her. I also noticed that she has only been a member for about a week. So I am not quite so upset - could have been an honest newbie mistake.

Generally, you can turn your RC on and off. So, if you aren't requesting a Harry Potter hardcover, then you could turn the RC off. However, I don't know if that differs if you are autorequesting.

It's probably a different person. You are not supposed to be offered the same book again even if you turned the RC's off. I think what you have to do is turn your RC's on and off. I would put in big bold letters at the top "Disregard if this is a Paperback" and then "I require a Dust Jacket if this is a HP book. No DJ is ok on any other hardback". But put the paperback info first in bold. You'll probably still get the occasional turn down but maybe less. |

And some people will turn you down just because you have requesotor conditions, regardless of what they are. You conditions were perfectly clear to me.............. |
