Norman Openheim is an American veteran of the D Day Landings 50 years ago. Archaeologist, Neil Watson, finds his body in the ruins of an old chantry chapel. DS Wesley Peterson is called in for help. Wes is soon caught up in old accusations, resentments, and romances from fifty years before. Norman's wife, Dorinda, and her friend, Todd, offer a familiar motive for murder.
This book started out slowly and had too many characters who were red herrings for murder. But by the last section of the book, the reveal was presented and everything fell into place. I look forward to the next book in the series and recommend this to those who like procedural mysteries.
