I just gave The Art of Racing in the Rain to my partner who hasn't read a novel in 10 or more years, and wow...........that is all we are talking about.

Written from the point of view of a dog who experiences all of human life's ups and downs.  Heartbreaking and Hillarious.  All about love, and insanity, and goodness and pain.  Have the kleenex ready.  Sometimes it's good to read a book that touches the emotions.

I agree! I absolutely loved this book, and I need many tissues to get through it. It's wonderful.

Loved loved loved this book, which I listened to in audio.  The narrator was so good that not once did I not think I was listening to Enzo, a dog, tell me their story.  I can't wait for my husband to listen to it!

Susanna, to answer that we would have to add SPOILER to the title for those who don't know the answer and don't want to know.

However, I think the box for the audio, or the book cover, may give it away...which is moot because Enzo tells us right from the start that he believes in the old Mongolian tradition that this is his last life as a dog and he is going to be reborn as a human.

Though sad, it is also very uplifting in the end.  Truly.

Loved this book also.  If you are a racing fan, you will like it.  If you are a dog fan, you will like it.  The author has a great writing style.

Here is a funny story-kinda-I got a copy of this book to post on PBS (my acc't is on Hold for now but plan on UNholding it soon)...then I went to a library sale and they had TWO copies available-only .25 each!  I was thinking of buying them but I wasn't sure how popular this book was here on PBS, plus I was on vacation and had to consider how much space I had in my luggage for extra books.  So, didn't buy them.  Come home and checked on PBS-over 200 people want this book!  I do have the one copy but wish I had grabbed the other 2!  I'm sure they are gone by now too.  Oh well!

If you all liked this book read A Dog's Purpose by W.Bruce Cameron.  It's also told from the dog's point of view.  The author really understands how a dog's mind workds.  I loved it.

I know nothing about racing, and am not much of a sports person, but that didn't really matter.  The story was very beautiful and it wasn't silly being told from a dog's perspective.  Enzo was such a great character.   I liked it alot and the local Seattle references were pretty on the mark.

This is one of the best books of all time!  Right up there with "Watchers" by Dean Koontz (had a wonderful golden retreiver).

I had put the book on my wishlist after reading this thread quite some time ago.

I too loved the book!  I laughed, and cried, and did not want it to end.

If  you are a dog that reads or listens to audios you will love this book. I am human but I loved the book . I am a listener and I checked the audio out from the library. My dog was usually sitting near by when I was listening and he seemed to enjoy the book although he did not say much about the ending of the book.

Moloki by Alan Brennert was a book I read earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed. I do hope to visit Molokai some day soon.

I loved that book!  I also read A Dog's Purpose and that was also very good.  I listened to One Good Dog which was a very good audio.  Can't remember the author on that one though.
