Search - Assignment: Single Father (Double Destiny)

This is one of the books in a duology about a nurse who has two destinies, depending on which job she takes. In this book, she goes with the Doctor with two children, one of whom is in a wheelchair because of psychological trauma. He's French (ooh-la-la) and she is English. Conflict ensues when the Doctor believes she is making choices for his children without including him in the decision-making process.
