Search - Asylum

This is a book that captures you from page one. This is the story of 10 year old Ian Lane. The story opens as he deals with the trageic loss of his parents in a fire. He is then taken to live with his Great-Aunt. When a stranger shows up at his aunt's house he gets an uneasy feeling that he is in trouble so he runs away.

After a long journey, God leads him to a building that becomes his shelter. It doesn't take Ian long to discover his new shelter is a church. Ian, used to taking care of himself, soon finds a safe place in the church to hide where no one will find him. As Ian settles in his new home, he doesn't realize that outside the church people are desprately searching for him.

The author does a great job letting you into the mind of Ian. Ian gets the unique opportunity to watch a church operate. Is he impressed with what he sees? Or is he turned off by what he finds going on in the church when they thinks no one is looking. Does he discover God or is he turned off by religion. It is interesting to see that God protects Ian even when he doesn't know who God is. God takes his time in revealing Himself to Ian and protects him in all that he does.

The search outside the church is frantic. As Ian's aunt continues her search without giving up hope, she begins to uncover some startling truths. Who can she trust to help her? Will she find Ian in time. The author does a great job of keeping you in suspense throughout the search even though you know where Ian is the whole time.

I highly recommend that you pick up this book so that you too can enjoy the jouney of discovery through the mind of a child.

I cannot recommend this book strongly enough! The story will catch your heart and your attention. I read it in one day because I kept wanting to see what was going to happen to this child who had had such a difficult life. Good story, good writing.
