I signed up for the Standard Membership today using Pay Pal. I have been a member since 2007 and trade exculsively in Audio CD's. This site has been exceptional for us Audiofiles. My account is on Vacation Hold to build up inventory but soon I will open it up with 660 Audio CD's.  I hope that my fellow Audiofiles will continue in PBS so we can trade.

I haven't had the same experience here for audio, too many abridged copies.  I prefer unabridged but they are few and far between.  Will stay as a  limited member and see how it goes

I also love audio books.  I'm going to friend both of you.  I hope you don't mind!  Please consider checking out the unmoderated audio swap in the games forum.  It's very simple and has a great group of people.

I commute a lot and listen to audio books, but only unabridged.  Will send friend requests, too.  laugh

So, with the right equipment, audiobooks can be transferred to my little Sansa player, can't they?  If so, I may have a use for all the extra wishlist space!

Should I "unhold" my vacation hold list of 660 audio titles before 2/15 ?  I fear I will get 100 requests for audios and can not mail them all in 11 days. If I had a month I could do it.

Larry, you could always create a book list with all of the titles.  It's very easy to create one from your profile.  I have a ton of them if you want to check out mine.  Once you create the list, you could just click on each book on your bookshelf, then from the book detail page click 'more options' then 'book list.'  From there you just click on the book list you want to add it to.  That way you could add in the book list description that these audios are available for order in multiples.  It's so much more cost effective to send out several books at once.  Then all of us that friended you (or anyone else you want to tell) can order without you being inundated.  Well, it would have to be we gift credits and you mail out, unless some are WL and you post them directly to our WL.  If I were you, I would check my bookshelf for any little red or green Ws indicating a book is WL.  I would put any WL books on individual hold prior to opening up my bookshelf to the public.  Any time I get an order, I check to see if I have something on their WL and ask if they're interested in that title too.  Anyway, just my two cents.  Audio book lovers unite!

Yes, Anna, several people in the unmoderated audio swap transfer audio books to their Sansas without any special equipment.
Feel free to stop in and ask about it.

Thank you, Sassy.  I'm going to be traveling more this year, including a couple of long flights.  My little Sansa is so easy to toss in my bag or to wear.  I can only read for an hour or two and have to rest my eyes, so it's a life-saver on a long trip.  Now road trips are another matter.  I get so 'into' my books I'm afraid it will distract from my driving.  What experiences have any of the rest of you had with that?

I don't have any trouble paying attention to driving while listening to audio books, but listening to audio books did take a while to get used to.  At first my mind would wander, and I would have to keep rewinding to listen again.  I think I'm actually more focused on my driving with an audio book.  When I'm driving without an audio book my mind wanders off, and I get much deeper into my thoughts (and then emotions) than I do with an audio book.

I'm glad you're still here Sasssy , LOL I too love audio books some I keep and some I am sorry I loaned away. I love to drive and listen to a familiar voice and a familiar book , ie: "To Kill A Mockingbird" or "Fried Green Tomatoes" . And I love finding fun cozy mysteries and autobiographies. I'll be sending some friend requests as well.

Driving is actually the only time I use audio books. I used to not care for them. But I found they kept my mind active and engaged and I didn't get sleepy and risk nodding off at the wheel as much. So anytime I am driving now, I make sure to have enough hours of book to listen to with me.
