Great field guide with hundreds of excellent photographs. As with all the Audubon Field guides, it's comprehensive and easy to use, but of a size to slip into a backpack or pocket- about 8 inches X 4. It's listed as a paperback but actually has a faux leather cover for durability.
Depending on new or used, I believe you'd generally pay anywhere from $15 to $40 for these guides.

Photographs of over 500 birds, not illustration, is the nice thing about this book. Each photo is shown with a page number, which is the last half of the book which shows description, habitat, nesting procedures, voice and their range. Very nice book. Has vinyl covers so one can use it in the field for verification. I would call it a field edition. About 2/3 the size of a paperback, it is easy to carry.
