This author published a book titled Suddenly a Stranger . In January of 2008 I placed the book on my WL.  I was 4 of 4. In the interim 1 requester has dropped, so now I am 3 of 4 and have been for almost 1 1/2 years. Does anyone know anything about why this book is so difficult to locate. Even the Inter Library Loan service is having an ardous time locating a loaner! It is #14 in her Marty Macalister series. Marty is an African American woman detective in a Chicago area suburb. None of the author's other books have been this difficult to find. Any ideas - beside Amazon?!!

No idea--it looks like it's not even available at Amazon--it's listed as 'not currently available' and there isn't even a used copy, nor could I find a used copy on Abebooks or Alibris, which is really unusual. One almost wonders if the book was ever, indeed, published? I guess I would try the author's website and maybe e-mail her or the publisher to find out if it's available through them? Looks like it was published by St Martin's Minotaur, so that's certainly a reliable publishing house, they should be able to tell you the story. LOL Do let us know if you find anything out!

Looks to me like it was released in the UK only according to Stop You're Killing Me.  Fantastic Fiction doesn't list it at all.

Darn it! I guess I won't be able to read this last one! I wonder why it was published in the UK and not here? Any ideas?

Well, I'm not sure that's the case...it is listed, but not available on both Amazon and Amazon.co.uk with the same ISBN. St. Martin's Minotaur is a US Publishing house I believe, and according to the Amazon search I did, the hardcover version was actually published here in Jan. 2007 with the ISBN 9780312360450 But it's just plain not available anywhere, either UK or US bookstores.  I even searched the publisher's website and it is not listed there either. I guess you will have to see if you can track down an e-mail address for the author and ask her yourself! Maybe she has a blog or something.

Thanks for the information, Cheryl. How do I locate an Author's e-mail? I googled her name, but could find nowhere that gave a site for her. I'm not very computer savy.    M'ann

That I don't know. Maybe she's not very computer saavy either and doesn't have a website. I would think the publisher could answer questions for you, though, like is that book available and if not, why not?
