That icon means that those books appear as auto-requested for at least one PBS member - not necessarily the number 1 person on the wait list.

I believe it DOES mean that the next person in line has it autorequested, however they may not have any credits left, and when that happens an auto-request is treated just like a regular wishlist hold to give that person a chance to buy credits or borrow or whatever. The other possibility is that two of the same book were posted very close together, and the other person who posted the book got it done just seconds or minutes before you did--so their request went to the person who had it on auto, and yours went to second in line who did not.

I'm not 100% sure about the green W meaning the next person in line definitely has an autorequest on rather than just anyone on the list as Tracy said, but several of my books that have 100+ wishers have only a red W, and I can't imagine that in all those wishes there isn't at least ONE with it on auto!

It can be discouraging...one reason I no longer browse my TBR lists here to read just wishlisted books is because often times a book will cycle through 2 or 3 or more people who don't respond or decline the wish, til you find someone who REALLY wants it. Had that happen just this week--it took 6 days to get an acceptance. Drives me nuts! LOL

I just thought of something else too....if you JUST posted the books, there is that 1 hour buyers remorse that is in effect with auto requests, so if it's less than an hour, the books will still sow up on your bookshelf on 'wishlist hold' and after an hour they'll be accepted automatically--unless the person decides to decline the request during that one hour's time. If that happens, then of course it moves along to the next in line who may or may not have it auto-requested.

well then since you posted them last night the first person who had them on auto-request may have declined the book and it went to the second in line.

The auto request person could have canceled the request first thing this morning and it put it to the next person.  Sometimes people get books elsewhere or a different ISBN and forget to remove them from their WL.  A book request can be cancelled by the requestor until the sender "prints" their address.

I am guessing then, given the time frames involved and since it's on the same WL hold still, that the people who had them on auto-request don't have available credits and haven't checked in to buy them.
