From the book cover: Kirk and Spock, together again, must join forces to save a new generation from an awesome menace unleased by a ruthless interplanetary conspiracy.
This is the sequel to The Return. It takes place after events depicted in the Movie "Star Trek: Generations". It was written by William Shatner and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens.
An excellent read.

In the Shatneruniverse Kirk comes back again to fight a plague. It also has Spock and Kirk in Vulcan prison cell which is a holodeck. They find a unique way to escape. One of my favorite lines from Kirk is when he first encounters the Enterprise E. "Can't they come up with a different name."
