Bookcloseouts.com is having another $1.99 fiction sale! Oops, it's a 1.99 to 2.99 sale. Still not bad! Check out their new site too. It looks great!

http://beta.bookcloseouts.com/Store/Browse/Fiction-Historical/_/N-2jdZqc

I only found a few books I wanted in the 1.99 promo, but I also found about six of my wishlist books. I really, really shouldn't add to my TBR, but I just can't seem to stop myself and I really don't want to work that hard on my self-control issues. At least I only have that problem with books! Just think what would happen if I lusted after expensive shoes or jewelry... ;-)

They have one Elizabeth Chadwick book - Shadows and Strongholds

It's not included in the sale, it's 5.99.

Gee, thanks, Valli. I had seen this. Then forgot about it in the rush of work at the end of the week. Now I have to - just have to - go check it out.

Word of caution about the beta site: When I used it, it didn't recognize the sale items. I received the following message in my shopping cart:

Your cart contains items that are currently on sale. You must apply a valid promotion coupon in order to receive the discounted prices. Enter a promotion coupon below. This must be done prior to completing your order

Yet, when I switched to the old site, it automatically gave me the sale price in the shopping cart.

If I'm going down in a hail of books, I'm bringing as many of you with me as I can. :-D

I got 21 books for $79.79. LOL, I so don't need any books at all. Somebody should block me from ever logging into the BCO website. I need BCOAA.

That's roughly 3.75 per book, right? Not a bad deal at all. And I won't buy anymore until I mail out 21 books. That's a reasonable compromise, right? Sure it is! ;-)

Oh, great! To get the sale price on the BETA site, you have to add in the coupon that is on the promotion page. If you buy at the old site, you can get the sale price and use the $5 and $10 off coupon codes I have.

I was just about to check out, glad you noticed that!!

It worked! Use the old site!

To save $10 when you buy $65 or more -  code: brickcity - 10     password: bookcloseouts.com

To save $5 when you buy $35 - code: brick city - 5    password - bookcloseouts.com

Now my total is $10.00 less. Very cool!

Valli, you are making this VERY difficult!!!!  And it's my own fault for checking here.  =(  I've already browsed the books and resisted temptation twice this week and now I have to go back!!!!

Shannon, At least you accepted part of the blame. I didn't. It's all Valli's fault that I *again* placed an order at BCO.

I'm with Genie -- it's ENTIRELY Valli's fault. In fact, I'm putting her on ignore status.wink

LOL! And it's Genie's fault that I ended up with 23 books instead of 21. If she hadn't told me about the old site using the discount prices, I wouldn't have saved ten dollars, then decided to add two more books to my cart because I was "saving" ten dollars. You know when I was in the middle of my book shopping high yesterday, that adding two more books thing made a lot of sense to me, but it doesn't really hold up now that I'm thinking about it today.

Shannon and Deb, shall you join my "BCOAA" group?

So, what did you end up buying? I'll show you my list if you show me yours. :-D

My excitement is a little tarnished by the thought of my mail carrier giving me this box. She is getting a bit older and doesn't approve of heavy, book-filled boxes. She is sure to give me the evil eyes! She'll tell me how sure she is that no one could possibly need that many books and I'll babble along like an idiot, trying to convince her that I really do need that many books. She'll just make this snorting sound and give me the evil eye again, lol. I love her!

I'm being good!!  I'm being good!!!  It has been 2.5 months since I last ordered from BCO.

Too bad I just clicked the "Order More from Member" button and burned through 3 more credits.  =(

Since I didn't get anything (yet), I'm VERY curious about what you ladies bought.  =)

Valli, I feel for your mail carrier.  I used to hide from mine, but luckily for me (kind of) our mail carrier changed.  Maybe they will switch every 100 books?

You are very strong, Shannon, you have a will of iron. I bow to you! (Requesting PBS books doesn't count against you!) ;-)

I decided yesterday that since I bought 24 books, I have to get 24 books out of my house before the BCO books arrive. So, I spent yesterday going through my bookshelves and pulling books to donate them, well, except for wishlist books, those I will post. I still have books that I've had for 10 years and haven't yet read. I've only pulled 10 out for the donate pile so far, better get moving. I'm reading the 1st chapter in each book, then deciding if I'd want to read the rest later. It's working well so far, but it's time consuming.

You keep at it Valli! I would suggest going no further than reading just the blurb. Those first chapters can get you in trouble!wink

I went to BCO and had a cartful set up and then said "no, I don't have to have these" and emptied the cart!  Now I'm rethinking my decision.

No BCO for me.  (insert pout)

An unexpected vet bill of $300+ put a huge hole in the disposable income for the month.

Valli cracks me up. (I wonder how many books I could get rid of if I sat down and read the first chapter.) LOL!

Valli's method wouldn't work for me AT ALL. I'd pick up the first book and look up to find it's 2 hours later and I'm deep into the book.  Then I'd just go snuggle up on the couch with a blankie and my cat and finish it.

I'm with you Sharla -- the first chapter would have to be pretty awful for me not to keep reading -- but I don't know that I'd be snuggled up to my cat -- his most recent vet bill was $730!!! That could have bought a LOT of books....

My God...People, please!!  The only thing that is saving me is having spent our year-end budget at work.  Ordering books all day, and in the evenings...well, it's taken the edge off a bit for me.  If this thread had started in, say, April...I would be broke!  And my dh would be looking at me in that way...

Jeesshhh... I had 18 in my checkout cart and low and behold found 8 of them on PBS! Now I only have 10 in my cart for $18 so if I want to use the coupon I have to find $17 more..... Thanks ladies... I think... I am out of credits at PBS and need to spend more money at BCO... maybe I should just read a few of the more than 500 I have at home....
