Okay.  I have read the first three BDB books (loved them, especially 3).  That being said, does anyone else notice that even when killed, the lessers go back to the Omega and then can come back to life again?  Or is it just me.  If that's the case, they wouldn't need new recruits and there wouldn't be so little.

And also, if the Scribe Virgin has the ability to save the Vamps after they've gone into the fade, why would they ever worry about getting killed.  And I am so not complaining, because I love these books, I was just thinking about these things.  Any thoughts?

The lessers don't come back to life.  The are tortured in a hell by the Omega.

kim , i guess for evey soul the omega gets, you know new recruit he gets more  powerful and he can use the knowledge of taking them back to  keep them in check.

i don't understand what you mean by saving them when they enter the fade. she can grant their request if she feels like it to be reborn like John Matthew but they would have no memory of the past life (  john has flashes or dreams). but to bring them back i guess she can't without it being another Jane Ghost thing.  The balance between good and evil.

Anyway thats what i got from it. sorry if i confuse you

Well, I haven't gotten to the part about Welsie yet...LOL I wasn't sure whether or not she was coming back.  But the reborn thing makes sense since she can create life.  But I believe O was stabbed in the chest and then he showed back up again and said it was because the Omega liked him.  Now that I think about it, the second time he came back it was after the Omega snuffed him out, so that doesn't really count.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

The lessers do not come back to life. They can be hurt and heal but once dead they stay that way. The Omega makes them part of himself in a way. The SV brought Jane back because her son is in love with her in my opinion. And she said that Jane had already given up so much since she could not give birth to children of her own. This was a sacrifice the SV made in my opinion only because of V.

There are a few contradictions, but I think that's one of the author's biggest challenges in stories like these. The DH series has them as well.

The longer the BDB series goes on the more the Scribe "Virgin" annoys me. I really loved the first three books and Butch's story was good, but I was so disappointed by the last two books. I know that I'll read the next ones, but I don't look forward to them like I once did.

It's been awhile and I've only read the 1st 3-4 but I always thought the Omega wasn't necessarily the same person but a position the lesser ascend to.

Well I can't wait for Vishous's sister to get out.  When is the new BDB coming out anyway?

I guess I don't question what happens. It's fantasy. Fantasy doesn't always have to have a cut and dried explanation.

The new book is due out on April 28th. It is Rehv's story.

Rehv is not a member of the brotherhood... so why do you think he is getting his own book?

Because as long as the series is making money, jr ward will keep writing them.

I'm wondering if it'll end up like the DH series with all of these strange offshoots? JR has certainly set herself up for that possibilty. I really wanted Torr's story or maybe even John Matthew.

Wow, I don't remember that about O coming back like that??  I'll have to go back and read them again. Oh, hurt me!  :) I also thought the Omega took them back inside himself and they are of "tortured in hell" swirling around inside the Omega for eternity. The lesser thing is the strangest part of the BDB and not my favorite part to read about.

I don't think each book necessarily has to be about one of the brothers;  Rehv is a member of the aristocracy, (even tho a drug dealer) so if JRW wants to write a book about him, she's the boss. I can't wait to see how he makes the change into a better citizen (hopefully) now that he is the head of the council. I think he could be a good brother if given a chance; I suppose being a sympath would prevent it (don't quite understand the whole sympath thing). Unless the SV wants to change him?  I think to become a brother, you must be nominated by a brother& the SV must approve. The brotherhood may even vote on it--I don't have the books with me to look it up. Rehv's book will probably surprise me tho.

I think a book on John Matthew is in the planning stage, maybe after Avenged. Check out the BDB Insider's Guide. JRW explains a lot about how the books came to be and future books. And the brother interviews are interesting!  Can't explain why, but this series just sucked me in and I'm hooked, waiting on the next one!

I agree, Barb, the parts about the Lessening Society are definitely my least favorite.  I find myself completely skimming those parts of the chapters.  And I'm definitely not usually a skimmer.

The Lessers only come back to life if the Omega takes their life in the first place. Like when they fall out of favor and the Omega bestows leadership to a new lesser. The lessers all contain a part of the Omega, when they are dusted that part returns to the Omega so he make more lessers and the dusted lesser's soul is tortued in the Omega's version of Hell.

As far as the Scribe Virgin saving people from the Fade, that isn't exactly what she's doing.

Her moto is that you have to sacrifice to get.  Darius sacficied his memories to become J.M. (who has not lived a charmed life, mind you. The S.V. saved Mary because she couldn't have children so she had already sacrificed enough in the Scribe Virgin's mind. For Jane (who was the only one TRULY brough back from death) The S.V. sacficied her best and only friends, her birds, and that only got Jane as far as being a ghost that could become solid while touching.

-------------------

As far as Rehv getting his own book. I don't care who's book it is, I am hoping there is some major Quinn and Blay boy on boy love goin' on. Am I the only one who thinks their "forbidden love" story is HOT? I am probably am but when they kissed I FELT it. I don't care that they both have winkies! Love is love! LOL

--------------------

I am also very excited for V's sister to get out. That will be a roller coaster.

-------------------

I hate that Ward writes the lesser sections. I find that they aren't all that important to the overall story line and frankly the fact that all of a sudden they are all just trying to get away from the Omega is annoying. Add to that the fact of the Omega's kid and his "love" for said kid and I am thoroughly lessered out. I guess the overall goal is to ease us into the Scribe Virgin + Omega = Family = backstory about how daddy (God? A God?) created them and how unloved THEY feel. They are becoming too much of the story for my liking.

Count me as another that doesn't like to read about the Lessening Society.  I actually have all the books in this series, but haven't gotten to the last couple!!  The story line was getting old and I was getting bored with the characters.  The brothers seem to be going off into a direction that I find uninteresting.  I know the plot has to build and the characters have to grow, but I just don't like where it is going.  I am hoping Rev's story will bring back some of the old zing to this series.

I'm not picking on this series alone, but all of them.  After so many books, the authors seem to loose all ability to stick to the original story line and go off into Never Land.  Sherrilyn Kenyon had a problem for a while and now she has been writing with her old zing again---------thank you Sherrilyn Kenyon.   Same with Christine Feehan and her Carpathians.............................and so on with everyone who has a series and tries to milk it dry for all times.  I mean no offense to anyone, this is just my opinion.

I will keep reading for JM reasons alone.  I love him and I cannot wait to see if he ever hooks up with Xhex.  I love how his character has turned out.

Hope, I think I love you!  Yes, I am kind of like the whole Quin/Blay thing going on.  I want more but I do not think it will happen.  I think fans will not be happy with it at all.

I know Rhev is next, they do need more Brothers and we all know he loves to fight.  Not to mention all the brothers have offically hooked up.

I already have the next book preordered, I am so excited!!

Do you think there is any chance that Manny will become a vampire and a brother (Jane's old boss)?  There seemed like there was some reference to the brothers "recognizing" him in the 5th book, which made me wonder at the time I was reading it if we are going to see him again in some respect.

I have to say, I love all these books, but for some reason I am really not looking forward to reading about Rehvenge or some of the tangents the series seems to be taking.  The whole sympath sex thing with the princess or whoever she is totally creeps me out.  And I'm a bit baffled by the fallen angel, or whoever he is.  Fingers crossed the next one will be good, but for the first time in this series I'm going into it with my doubts.

I too am thinking manny is going to become a vampire down the road.  As well, I think the blay/quinn forbinnen romance is hot, it's not about the gender it's more so about the extreme love and desire.  But I think in the end she'll make it so he'll find his true love and will realize he was never real feelings or something crap.  And the Sympath princess is beyond creepy.

I love the series, so far the only dislike I've had is the whole Jane is a half ghost or phantom, or whatever the hell she is.  I like Rhev, so with the exception of the princess, I'm thinking his story will be interesting.  Although, I hope she doesn't overload with this whole he's a "sympath" and therefore is supposed to be in some sort of weird colony thing.

What do you think she has in store for V's sister?  You think it will have anything to do with Tohr or will he never find love again?
