There sure are a few grinches out there.

I got burnt on 2 credits this month. First in the Unpostables thread and then again in the ARC's thread. I contacted the members, made arrangements with them, sent them the credit and have received NOTHING in return. I PM'd both of them asking if they'd sent the book yet and no reply. I asked for my credit back if for some reason they were now unable to send the book and again nothing. It really sucks to have a bad experience here, but two in the same month? I had requested these books towards the beginning of this month, so it's not like I'm being impatient. The least they could've done was reply back and tell me why it's taking long to mail it... SOrry about the rant.... I joined this site for the good deals on books - but members like these two make things pretty un-enjoyable. :(

I hope everyone enjoys their holidays and didn't get a burn like I did.

Hmmm, sorry to hear this, Melissa. Did you notify them more than once?

Would you be interested in a 2 for 1 or a 4 for 2 on your Pokemon books?

Yeah, I did try to notify them more than once... Seems like they don;t play by the "honor" system for one member and the other was a newbie...

Sure, we can work out a deal on the pokemon books, please PM me.

I'm hoping that these people are just overwhelmed by the holiday rush...and they will respond after New Years.   Think positive!    However if they don't pop up soon I would send a PM to the owners of the ARC and Unpostable threads and ask them what to do.    I bet at least one of them will come through...just this time of year is overwhelming.

Have they been members for quite some time? Whenever I think someone is going to stiff me, they usually surprise me. I've not had any problem here. Once in a great

while someone tries to muck up the system. But the mods are very good at discovering them and chasing them away.

Perhaps they are on vacation? so much is possible.

If you send a credit, you certainly deserve notification of mailing----and if you don't get any notification of mailing, you certainly deserve a PM response.

If there are members who don't play by the rules, the only way you can bring them into compliance (so nobody else has to deal with them either) is by contacting PBS Support or the mods of the ARC and UNPOSTABLE forums where those books were listed.

( I don't buy the "this is overwhelming season" stuff.   If people are busy, they need to go ON HOLD here.  Very simple.  Don't take on comittments if you can't keep them.)  Besides, like you say, you ordered at the beginning of December.

You're right, they should have replied by now.  I definitely recommend contacting the owners of the thread -- at minimum they should be banned from posting again until they make good .  Encountering two in one month is probably rare.  Let's hope for the best.

Sorry they are not responding, I would give at least the 26 days to travel that the system gives, then send them one more PM that if they do not respond you will be turning them in to the site as someone who is not honoring their Book Bazaar deals and that could get their account suspended until they make good on them. All deals worked out in the Bazaar are outside of the system and are on a honor system between the members, but the site will usually try to get a member to shape up if they are using their account to be dishonorable.

Keep in mind that the people starting the threads in the Bazaar are in no way responsible for the members' actions who are using the threads. I think the ARC is started and monitored by Amanda and she may be willing to contact the other member to tell  ask them to respond, bbut I think the unpostable is just started randomly.

December can be a crazy month so hopefully they are just behind or the post office is. I've seen a lot of Priority mail miss its estimated delivery dates so the USPS does seem to be a bit off this season.

This doesn't excuse the lack of response, but I'm waiting on a book package that went from TX on the 12, to FL on the 15th and it's been sunning itself on the beaches there since then... BTW, I'm in OR which is the OPPOSITE direction of FL from TX... *sigh* Again, they should at least respond, but it is possible they've mailed, and the packages are just MIA... It would be nice if they at least said something though.... Sorry.

I sent you two credits.  I have no idea who you are but dishonesty gives us book people a bad name.  I've been burnt here so I know how it feels.

Merry Christmas.  Dano1215

That was nice of you, Dano!

I've been burned on here a couple of times.  However, the good experiences I have had FAR outweigh the bad ones.  I hope your luck gets better on here!  There really are a lot of great people on this site.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions and for the credits Dano, I sent you a PM. You guys rock and have definitely pointed me in the right direction. I will try to keep you all posted if I haven't heard anything back by the 26th day as suggested by Melanie.

Just a thought that you might want to suggest to R&R. Ask them if there is a way that people can't post in the bazarr until they have had so many completed transactions when they are new.  Jean
