The sparse use of words, the feeling and truth, and the growth of a lonely man, are equally compelling in this scrap of a book. The kitten (as small as my hand) is a sweet component of this love story. I highly recommend it.

This is a very easy, cute book to read. A young man, finds a cold hungry kitten on his doorstoop.
He takes her in, out of the cold, and starts to feed and care for her.
She teaches him about true love, not the love that his manipulating girlfriend sems to think is love.
He calls this exquisite cat, Frankie. Frankie, follows him everywhere and loves him unconditionally.
The man meets a woman, that is not really hit "type" but he starts to fall in love with her like the cat.
The cat trusts this woman absolutely. Then comes the day the man has to make a decision, stay with the woman, or go aftger the girlfriend that is alluring but fickle.
He goes to meet the girlfriend one day and Frankie follows him out of a door that is not fully shut, and gets hit by a car. The man is devestated and learns that love is always pursuing you and you must pursue it in turn.
Frankie survives and the man, having come to his senses, leaves the bitchy girlfriend and loves the woman, totally.

in short : a beautiful story that is beautifully written. to be more expansive : this is a gorgeous tale of love and self discovery, told with lush prose and a sense of humor. the bachelor is sensitive, lost, wildly romantic, and secretly detached. in caring for an orphaned cat he learns the meaning of love, loyalty and friendship. the woman he doesn't dare love is kind, caring, available and Not His Type : overweight, older, direct. the girlfriend he can't forget is gorgeous, cunning and self-absorbed. the confusion that pulls him in two different directions is poignant and altogether. this is a sweet novel about separating the glitz from the gold. here is an unforgettable line from the book to whet your appetite :

"...it was as if she had taken her skills at navigating the human soul and signed aboard a pirate ship with them."
