Am having emergency surgery Fri morn at 7am for a bulged disc in lower back. Have been unable to sit, stand, or walk since 1 NOV--- sat too long  in my Cracker Barrel rocker Halloween night handing out candy on the porch!

Really need prayers as my oldest daughter's wedding is 26 NOV in DC area and I want to be able to stand and walk for it.  Neurosurgeon says this minorly invasive surgery is a 3 day miracle and I'll be walking by Monday!  Please pray the Lord guides his  hands and that I am quickly healed to make my daughter's wedding as special as she deserves without a disabled mother distracting from the festivities.   --jeanne G  in FL

FRIDAY--  wow, I was home, back in bed resting, less than 7 hours after arriving at the hospital this am!  We thought I was going to have to spend the night, but all is well, just resting and taking pain meds as needed.    I CAN WALK, SIT, AND STAND without PAIN now so hopefully will be dancing at daughter's wedding!   This surgery really was a miracle cure--- but I had a ton of people praying for me. The pain was all worth it, if this is a final fix!

Hi Jeanne,

I will keep you in my prayers for a successful surgery & recovery. I myself have had a major back surgery as it was 4 surgery's in one. But minorly invasive surgery is usually a very fast recovery. Good Luck.

Sending you good thoughts. Make sure you give yourself time to heal and let others do for you as I am sure you have given of yourself to them.

i had a similar surgery 10 years ago.(it might have even been the same.) i had a bulging disc with a twisted pinched nerve around it.

they kept me overnight, and once i was in a room, i had to use the bathroom, and no i didn't want to use a bed pan! they kept me balanced, but i went and used it.

4 weeks later i was flying, with 1 change of planes, to visit family in florida. it is a miracle surgery. it still took a while to build endurance up.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers.  You guys are the best (oops, my midwest upbringing sneaked out there "you guys").

I am having some negative side effects now, but not serious enough to go to ER or call 911 which puts me in a quandry. Having to wait to hear back from doctor.

i don't know what your negative side effects are, but could you possibly call an urgent care type place on the phone to see if they can help you make a decision about the ER or 911? or maybe a nurse phone line?  if it's anything with infection, don't delay, just go.

Talked to surgeon by phone at 7pm last night.  He said low grade fever, muscle soreness, headaches all normal following this surgery-- that 30-40% of people experience that.

WHAT?   why wasn't  that mentioned on discharge instructions or by nurse????

I'm feeling much better now as doc let me start my Celebrex again for the arthritis in my hips---yeah!  Feel like cleaning house today, but hubby shook his finger at me..................

I just saw your thread. How are you?

What kind of surgery did you have. Are you getting physical therapy?

I have back problems, too.

I'm hoping everything is well and your symptoms were just side effects of the surgery and are all gone.

I'll say a little prayer for you, even though it's been some time since the surgery. You can always use a prayer!
