I've been away so long, and I haven't been able to fit reading in anywhere close to as much as I'd like. But, recently I've developed a huge NEED to devour books and I'm loving it. I joined the Goodreads group but haven't been active.

I'm completely out of the loop on what's been happening, but have browsed just a bit and must say I'm SO glad to see all of the returning members. <3 Valli!! Oh girl, I'm so glad you came back! I also had my world turned upside down a couple of years ago and completely went silent, online and IRL both. I didn't talk to anyone for a full week, because I didn't even have words, just tears. I crawled out of the hole, very slowly, and have reclaimed my path and can probably say I'm as "healed" as I probably could be, and I'm enjoying my old hobbies once again - reading is a big one! So you have at least one pal that has been struck, gone MIA and didn't know how to integrate back in. Glad to see you here! <3

Vicky T. my heart hurts for you. I'm so sorry for these last 4-5 months of loss and grief. I'm sending my love and wishing you peace through the coming days, weeks, and months. I have experience with sudden loss and there's just no words to describe it. I'm happy to see that you're retiring soon and looking forward to it. My aunt is recently retired and it's suiting her quite well. :)

I know I'm probably missing other big news, as I very briefly just browsed a few minutes before posting here to commit myself back into the routine. ;)

I will jump into the discussions and board mostly on the weekends. I work part-time now during the week and with all of the kiddos being little, my nights are packed with chores and kid things. At night, hubby and I relax and watch news and some shows and catch up.

Do you gals remember Sawyer, the youngest HF fan we had on the board? He's 3 (THREE!) now! He's hilarious, sassy and wild, tender hearted, smart as a whip, and still has my heart. :) I'll have to post pics soon of my crew. It really has been a while since I've been around regularly.

<3

Hello Kelly and welcome back! I certainly remember when Sawyer was born - can't believe that was three years ago. Sorry to hear about your troubles - life does throw us curve balls from time to time. It's not as active here as it once was so it's good to know you are here to help keep things going.

Thanks, Donna! I'm sad that the board isn't as active. Hopefully more members come back and new ones join up. :) I haven't been able to keep up with my fun hobbies much, so I understand all too well having more intentions than time. ;)

Activity in lots of the groups is low, sometimes almost nil.  I so miss the conversations that used to occur.  Since it's summer I am busy with gardening, summer hobbies and family activities.  In addition, the crazy weather has created more work.  We had five trees come down to date but I know others have had many more including DD who called this morning.  She had one come down last night but it damaged two or three others so all have to be removed for safety.  And, this is the second round for her.  What a summer!

Mimi, I know!! Here he is now, with Aubrey (8) and Gabe (6). I think the last time you all got a picture was when he was just a wee baby!

REK, I've been browsing the other forums I frequented and am seeing that. Such a bummer, but maybe I'll now have to spend more time reading books vs forums. ;P I do miss the chatter though! That's crazy about the trees. Here in southern WI we've had a fair share of big storms as well. The town my kids go to school in (we live between cities, out in the country) got hit bad by a storm and it took down massive trees and damaged many historical homes. So sad. I hope none of you and your DD's trees caused damage. It's a pain enough to deal with removing the trees.

Your summer sounds great! I sure wish I could garden. That's been something I've wanted to do for...11 years now. o.O This summer is going by too fast. I'm back to work part time and the big kids go to summer camp during the week. My days off are spent playing catch-up on chores, or running back and forth to doctors/dentists/chiro/physical therapy/etc. BUT the weather is lovely and I'm soaking up every ray I can. We've had some good weekends and have been able to use the pool a good bit. Next weekend we're going "camping" so that'll be pretty exciting. I use quotes because we're really renting a cabin for the weekend and roughing it with food and whatnot, LOL! Not TRUE camping, but this is as close to camping as my hubby will go. I'm excited for the mini getaway though!

Kelly, your children are darling! Hard to believe it's been three years since that baby was born. My, oh my, how the time has flown by!

So wonderful to see you back in the forum! We've missed you!

Hi Kelly! Awe, thank you - always so sweet! I've missed this forum a great deal. Had some "junk" that interfered with my reading enjoyment, but I'm back in it, baby! :)

Hi Kelly!  I'm new to HF, but I've been around PBS for a long time.  Not sure if you've ever played in the Games, but Kathy F has a ne HF swap starting up soon.  If you want to join you need to sign up by tomorrow morning.....Summer Historical Fiction Swap - Last Call! Closing sign ups Sat. morning

And, you mentioned something about missing the chatter?  Lisa has a group August - This Book Has Been On My TBR Long Enough  where we read the oldest book on our TBR, write a short review, then it is available to anyone in the group to order from the member who read the book.  In between, we chat.  Topics are whatever happens to come up.  Always open to new people.  Feel free to come by and check it out.  You don't have to commit to reading a book tf you don't want to, or don't think you will have enough time before the end of the month.  Each month she starts a new thread.

Always glad to see members return.
