A fun read of the younger loves we experience when 20ish...and that transition we go through in learning what qualities really matter in a mate!

Tracie loves those musician types in leather jackets. She's got a weakness for classic bad boys who seem too good to be true...and usually are.
Jon, on the other hand, loves Tracie-and not "just as a friend." But Jon is no bad boy. He's about as good as they come: a khaki-clad tech whiz with stock options in the bank who visits not only his own mother on Mother's Day, but all his father's ex-wives, too.
Then, fed up with his forlorn love life, he convinces a skeptical Tracie to teach him some tricks of the trade. With an artful makdover, she succeeds in turning him into a heartbreakingly hot bad boy, and soon it seems half of Seattle's womenwant Jon to themselves.

Mz. Goldsmith has done a superb job in writing a real funny novel with Jon errr, Jonny and his true love yet doesn't know it, Tracie. It tickled my sides and made me laugh pleasantly. I like to laugh because something is funny, not because someone or something thinks its funny and that I should laugh. 3 thumbs up, Olivia. Keep up the good work. I am getting ready to read your "The bestseller".

It started out slow, but after I got to the middle, I couldn't put it down! Goldsmith writes with humor about the rituals of today's dating scene.

Romantic farce. An old fashion tale of love and friendship. The story
is infused with much humor, a compulsively readable plot and a hapless happy ending. A inhalable book for dreary days.

What woman hasn't had someone in her life that with a little- "CHANGE" could be WOW? This book tells what happens when a woman has the chance to make-over her best friend. Really good. I rate it as one of her best.

My first Goldsmith. This book was OK, I guess. Not a quick read, though -- it's really, really thick.

From Publishers Weekly
For all its hip talk and flaunting of high-tech accessories, Goldsmith's (The First Wives Club) cream-puff new read is an old-fashioned tale of love and friendship. In the new Seattle--a town suddenly stinking rich, "famous for its bad boys, good coffee, and Micro Millionaires"--Tracie Higgins is a young reporter for the Seattle Times. Though she has a musician-poet-lout boyfriend, every Sunday Tracie meets platonic chum Jonathan Delano for brunch. Jonathan is a techno-wizard for Micro/Con; he is responsible, dedicated, environmentally correct; good to his mother and stepmothers; and alas, an ugly duckling dweeb who hasn't had sex in a year. Tracie agrees to give him a "make over": the clothes, the moves, the haircut, the lines--in short, attitude. "Women don't want nice guys," she says. She should know. In fact, every man in the book (except Jon) is a selfish leech, abusive or indifferent. Every woman seems clueless. But the dialogue is crisp and funny, and though the characters are shallow, they're lively, comradely and comic. The makeover itself is wonderfully funny, especially as poor Jon remains pretty hapless on the pickup. Soon, however, his spiffy clothes, spiked hair, stale lines and casual cruelty turn his love life around. Has the loyal friend, the true lover, the decent, smart, stock-optioned man vanished into chic-ether? Read on.
