I think I am cursed. I have been trying for months to get a particular title in a particular format. I ordered it and it cycled through THREE TIMES and then I was bumped onto my RL. Fine. I requested the book from the library because I figured I could at least read it. When I finally got word that the book was available, I went to pick it up and nearly barfed. The book was a filthy MMPB that look liked it had been dropped in the tub after falling in a vat of marinara sauce. I was shocked that the library would keep a book in that condition in circulation. **shudder**
I was cruising a few bookshelves a week or so ago on a forum here that I frequent and found the book! It was a slightly different format but no matter. I ordered it.
Finally the book was accepted but no label was printed.
The book is going to time out this afternoon. **sigh**
I guess I'm just not meant to have this book. (It's an early book in a fairly well-known mystery series and I can pick it up at B&N anytime. I just don't want to spend $14 when I can spend a credit here. Or not, apparently! LOL!)
As for the beat up library copy-with budget cuts they probably can't afford to replace it.
I've had books like that. Where you just seem destined to never get a copy. I found a book that looked really good to me on someone's shelf when they offered me a BOB. I chose that book but so did someone else who responded right before me.
There's 1 more copy posted so I order it-it times out.
I put the book on my WL.
It's posted quickly (not the person it timed out on), I accept and then it times out again.
A week or so later a 4th person posts the book and finally mails it out.
You know I still haven't read that book.

The title is of no consequence. I'll get it eventually. I'm hoping that the sender puts it in the mail tomorrow. Yes, the copy that I would buy is a trade paperback. I think I've requested a MMPB, though.
I guess I wouldn't necessarily expect my library to replace the book but one that filthy really needs to be removed from circulation. It surprised me that it hadn't been. Bleh.
