Search - Bad Prince Charlie

This was a decent read that did start me out with a chuckle in the first few paragraphs. It's reminiscent of Terry Pratchett, yet not quite as polished. However, this author's use of footnotes got annoying quick because they weren't that funny or great. It was a different type of book to read as well, as it took me about halfway through before realizing it didn't have chapters, but "pauses" between sections (like mini-chapters). Overall, it was pretty good, but didn't grab me in a big way that makes me want to rush out and read everything by this author, even though this is the second book by him I've read.

Take one small kingdom, with lots of problems, one recently dead king who didn't leave an heir, and two conniving uncles who want to make some bucks turning the kingdom over to its less-than-friendly neighbor, then add one college student who also happens to be the illegitimate son of the ruler......and you have "Bad Prince Charlie."

Charlie has been convince by his scheming uncles to take the throne so that they can make some money by selling out to the king next door. But much to their surprise, he turns out to be a pretty good king! What happens when you add a pot-smoking priestess and a beautiful Lady who doesn't mind the thought of killing a person or two standing in the way of her becoming queen? Charlie ends up neck-deep in trouble!

A VERY funny book, good choice for both fans of fantasy and comedy. Highly recommended!
