So I'm about 50 pages into a book I just got as WL and I just can't believe the editing mistakes. I'm holding off on naming the book because I might use it in a Swap.  Twice now instead of the word "he" they used the word "lie" which made no sense in the sentence.  On a page when a new character is first introduced he's described as having dark hair (which means black or very dark brown to me).  A few pages later same charactar is described as dark blond hair and green eyes. A couple paragraphs later he "narrows his brown eyes".  Whoever proof-read this book needs to find a new career. The heroine has red hair on the first page and is blonde a few paragraphs later. And since this is about Vikings, I doubt she made a trip to the salon.

I had read two Janet Evanovich books that had a LOT of mistakes and I admit it turned me off from reading more of her books.  It actually made me mad that there were so many obvious errors.

I read one a while back where the hero was supposed to be a SEAL but they kept stating he was in the Army. Ugh!

I read a paranormal erotica anthology one that had so many errors, I couldn't finish it . Vane for vain was one that I clearly remember.  The stories were also just poorly written.  I posted it and as it was WL'd , it got taken though I did warn the other member.

I've read quite a few errors in Rachel Gibson's books.

I read a mystery that consistently used "grizzly" for "grisly".  There's a pretty major difference between a grizzly murder and a grisly one, although I guess they overlap if an actual bear is involved!

Well I read a bit more after posting this and it's not getting better.  On almost every page the number 1 is substituted for I at least once.  And it's still doing that "lie" thing instead of he.  It's crazy how badly this book is edited.  The story is enjoyable though.

My fave one was in an HP (and I don't mean Harry Potter <g>)

The hero tells the heroine he'll be away on business for a few weeks as he has to go to Prague.  The heroine then thinks to herself :  Ooooh, lucky him! I have always wanted to go to Russia!!

It's been awhile since I read it, and cannot remember the title or author, but it had a problem with keeping the hero's name straight.  On the back of the book his name was something like "Steve", but most of the story had him called something totally different, like "David".  Except every once in awhile, when he was Steve again.  I read it twice (it was a thin series) to make sure there was no explaination for the two names, and finally chalked it up to *really* bad editing.

Was it any good?  Oh - and what's the book?  I know it's been mentioned, but I forget.

Tall, Dark Cowboy (I think)-- it has it's very own thread. I saw it advertised in an amazon email and about lost my eyeballs.  I've not received it yet, but Dawn's read it.  Can't wait to get it -- I'll be doing that plastic sealer thing to the cover!!!

Here is a link:
