A book was requested from me but has been placed on WL hold with the standard WL Hold explanation, "Waiting 48 hours for this member to confirm that they have credits for this book."    Why would a book be put on "WISH LIST HOLD" when there are several copies in the system?  Thanks   Pat

It could be an ISBN issue. You could have the only ISBN that the wisher wants.

Nope - there are at least 5 other copies with that ISBN.  The book was on my Book List, so technically it's not a WL book.  Pat

Maybe they had their account on hold, and five copies were posted during that time. Then when they removed the hold, your book was requested?

hmm. that's a brain buster.  I don't think it's the hold thing. I had my account on hold for awhile because of a cross country move. While I was on hold 2 of my WL books became available in PBS.  It moved them to my reminder list and did not automatically order them for me when I came off hold.

I wonder if this person could have conditions maybe that the other 5 could no meet? But then I don't think it would let them put it on their WL. I think they would have to wait until the other 5 copies were ordered.

It could just be a glitch.  When did you see that there were 5 copies posted?  It's possible that they were all ordered before you posted the book and now it's on WL from people seeing it in the Books Posted list.

Nope - II checked through the Reminder List so I know that there are 5 copies out there.  I'm probably also #1 on the FIFO list.  I just can't figure out why it's on the WL hold, unless she ordered the book but didn't have any credits.  Can you do that?  I thought if you didn't have credits, it wouldn't let you order.  I thought maybe this had happened to others before.  Thanks for the suggestions though.  Pat

I posted several books that had 0 wishers, now they are being held in WL hold for 48 hours. I just hope they are requested since I am now on a credit getting mission.

Sherry - that I could understand, but there are 5 in the system with this same ISBN so there shouldn't be a reason for it to be on the WL hold.  Hope your books get ordered.  Pat

I had an incidence once where I was looking at books and didn't realize the books were available...I added them to my Wishlist and since they were not on Auto Request they went into the 48 hour WL Hold.  She may not realize they are available....or like someone mentioned it could have been on someone's WL not on Auto Request and they took their account off of hold and boom  they are on 48 Hour WL Hold...it can happen even when books are available in the system.

Christy - I thought of that also.  Thanks.  Pat

Just to put closure to this in case anyone cares.  The book stayed on the WL Hold for the complete time, timed out (and in the meantime someone ordered a copy of the book so I lost out there), but someone else has ordered the book and it will be on its way on Thursday.

Still don't know how it got on WL Hold though.  Pat

I'm not sure that I am understanding this at all.  I thought that unless you had a WL book on auto-request that you did have 48 hrs to accept the WL offer.  Is this the WL hold?  In that case then where is the confusion?  I have been a member for 6 months now and I still don't understand the intricacies of PBS.

the books were available...I added them to my Wishlist and since they were not on Auto Request they went into the 48 hour WL Hold. - justed wanted to point out that there is no way to do this, there is no WL button on a book that is available on the system.

The only way I have seen a book go into WL hold that is available is when 1) its on someone's WL when they put their shelf on hold and then it becomes available, then the go off of vac hold (I've had books on my shelf put on WL hold this way that I eventually did end up sending so it wasn't a glitch) or 2) system glitch (which there have been a lot of lately with all the tinkering they've doing).

Melanie, do you think that maybe someone had it on their reminder list and clicked to convert it to their wish list?

Good thought Leslie. I just tried that and the book just remained on my Reminder List, it won't convert.

I can give one certain possibly since I just did this.

I put my account on hold for about 3 weeks.  Most of my wishlist is on auto-request but I missed one of the ones I was first for,  Irish Hearts (in Large Print).  It was posted while I was on hold.  Because I was on hold and the wish was the 48 hour variety, I was not notified the book was now available nor was it requested.

I took my account off of hold yesterday.  Imagine my surprise when I had a wishlist offer sitting right there.  LOL  I promptly went back to my wishlist to verify that all the books I'm number 1 are on auto.

As to why they would take their account off of hold and then not check back in, who knows?

Yep - I couldn't figure it out either.  There were 5 in the system at the time.  While the copy requested from me was in WL Hold, one of the 5 copies was ordered, leaving 4 copies (including the one on WL Hold).  Then the 48 hours was up and it went off WL Hold, but within 24 hours someone ordered it.

I even contacted my "Guide" but she didn't have an answer either.  I'm just going to put it down to WL Hold gremlins.  LOL.  Pat
