Can't go wrong with John Maxim and his group of "retired" assassins. This is the second in the series and as good as the first, which was excellent. It would do well as a standalone but I recommend starting at the beginning with The Bannerman Solution. I have both available.

Hidden behind a Maginot Line of safe houses and front operations in quiet Westport Conn. are Paul Bannerman and his elite group contract agents. They don't look any different than their neighbors. When Bannerman boards a plane for Switzerland, all he and his girl friend have in mind is a lot of loving and a little sking. Instead Susan Lesko wines up in cocaine induced coma, and Bannerman can't figure out the hit was set up to hurt or Susan's father, Ray Lesko a retired NY city cop, between the two of them they had plenty of enemies including the Narcotraficantes and the CIA.
