I'm curious what happened between you and B&N/Nook. For the time when you first got the Nook to when you got rid of it, you were their biggest fan. Then out of nowhere, boom! The Nook goes back and you got a Kindle instead. I figured it was simply a preference issue of one vs the other, but I've noticed in your last few posts that your anger doesn't appear to be limited to not liking the Nook but also against B&N as well.

So what happened? Is there something the rest of us should be aware of when doing business with them?

I WAS SHOCKED to learn Thats False Adv!!  While Nook does eBooks MY Library [they use Overdrive] Doesnt have them!

That's more the fault of your library though, than B&N. I don't see how it's false advertising if your library doesn't offer ebooks.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to blame the reader for what a library does or does not have. Unless you mean your library advertised they have ebooks when they don't. But you can join libraries in other states that have open enrollment with a fee, and borrow from them.

One of the reasons I haven't bothered with library books is that our local has a poor selection of ebooks. (And the second is that my TBR pile is too large to mess with a library at the moment.)

Your post was very difficult to understand, but I agree that it's no fault of B&N that your library doesn't have ebooks. How in the world is that false advertising on B&N's end?

According to 5 Lawyers & my BBB its False Advertising!

Sorry, but I call BS! There is no way your library not having ebooks is false advertising on B&N's end. Even if you have spoken to lawyers about it, you probably didn't explain it correctly. That's just my guess.

I see you and raise you one. B&N has no way of knowing which library offers e-books. It merely offers the CAPABILITY to download them.

Just wanted to say I agree with this.  And as others have said, one can sign up for out-of-state library cards in order to borrow e-books and e-audio.

Why did lawyers contact you to begin with? I'm confused. You say that both of your Nooks were broken like it's a fact, but WE don't know that for sure, you know? I think that maybe you just didn't get out of the Nook what you'd wanted to do and instead of researching a little more or trying to figure things out you've chosen to go with the Kindle instead. That's cool. If the Kindle is working great for you and it's everything you wanted and needed, that's great. You can hate on B&N and the Nook yourself, but please don't spread the wrong info to others that are seriously trying to figure out which is right for them, ya know? I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Barbara, I just happened to be browsing and found this topic and it interested me (I hadn't previously read or commented on it).  Unfortunately, all of your original posts have been deleted, so I am left with what other people are quoting, rather than what you actually posted.

Caring community!  Lived here 35+ yrs most people here [until the housing boom in 2000] are related or went to school with each other.   I was self employed 15 yrs.  Let just say I am well known!

Well I found out WHY the lawyers called me!  They Made the Library get the eBooks & MP3 audios!  They havent got many....guess its a start.  I ran into my sons lawyer...the one that was in Books A Million when I was telling the MGR about the library.  He contacted the Others! THEY are on the Library Board!!
