Barbara Woodhouse was a woman who was ahead of her time. Long before John Lyons, Monty Roberts, Clinton Anderson, Pat Parelli, Cesar Milan and the plethora of other horse & dog whisperers and the commercialization of "Natural Horsemanship", Mrs. Woodhouse had been extolling the virtues of quiet communication and understanding of animals.

While not heavy on advanced training, the book does an admirable job outlining Mrs. Woodhouse's method of teaching horses and their riders the art of calm, gentle basic training that forms the foundation of the education of every responsible equine citizen.
