It looks really nice! E-ink with touchscreen and 8-oz weight! I won't be buying one (I have the Nook Color), but if I were looking for a new ereader, I would certainly be checking this one out!

I feel like that woman in the commercial who finds out her device has just been upgraded and she yells out "I just bought mine!"    For $139, this is a pretty good deal for e-ink, even if it is a black and white display for everything else.

I WANT IT!!!!!  But of course, I just got my Nook in January, can I really justify a new one in June?  (yeah, probably not)

I was reading through the features.  While it touts Wi-Fi for book buying, it doesn't say anything about a web browser.  So, does this mean you can't use it to surf the web?  If that's the case, then I don't want one.  I use my Nook for reading blogs through my RSS Reader (Nookfeeds.com) and to access a couple of things.  I would miss that functionality since I don't have a cell phone or other device that does that.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong?

Nancy.....That is a GREAT idea!  I would be ok with a 25% discount if I turn in my old one.....

As far as the web browser, that isn't a major issue for me.....I still haven't figured out how to use it on the Nook I have :)

If I had a regular nook I would turn it in for this, but I don't think I will be trading in my nook color for this.

I love my nook color have had no complaints so far!

I agree, I think you should be able to "trade in" your reading devises and get a percent off, even 25% off would be worth it right?

This new reader doesn't interest me.  I like being able to browse the web on my Nook.  I'd move up to a Nook Color, but not down to this one.

yea , well colleen thats in the kindle store. if you got the usb hooked up to the kindle through computer theres  2 million free one alone for kindle.

With over 950,000 titles, the Kindle Store contains the largest selection of the ebooks people want to read including New York Times® Best Sellers and most new releases from $9.99. And Amazon provides limited time promotional offers and thousands of the most popular classics for free with wireless delivery in under 60 seconds to your Kindle, computer, or other mobile device.

But of course, the Internet is huge and there are lots of older, out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books online. We wanted to make it easier to find these collections, which today represent nearly 2 million titles. See the sites and instructions below to download free classic and other out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books and transfer via USB to your Kindle device or read on Kindle for PC or Kindle for Mac.

thats on amazons website

I saw a TV commercial for Best Buy advertising a new trade-in program for upgrading gadgets.

I never use the Nook's web browser - too cloodgy.  I wouldn't mind a Nook color though!  yes

But you need to realize that's your opinion. Not fact. Sorry, but it's the truth!

The new nook is a nice looking machine. So is the new kobo. I am looking forward to reading reviews when they start coming out.

No one knows whether or not a new Kindle, touch screen or not, is coming out later this year.

It's probable that Amazon will release a touch screen e-ink Kindle, but I've not heard any credible info on a time frame.  When it comes, it'll be b&w just like this Nook.  Anything color at this point (and for the next couple of yrs) will be LCD or similar.  Color e-ink is just not ready for the mass market.  It's too expensive, and IMO, a very poor quality display - colors are very faded, page turns are slow, bad resolution, etc.

From what I've heard, what Amazon is speculated to be releasing soon is a small color tablet with a touch screen.  If this rumor is is true,  it will be the equivalent to the Nook Color, not to this new Nook Touch.  You can't really compare powered/backlit displays like LCD to e-ink.  They're just too different and personal preference as well as where/what/how you read makes a huge difference in what type you like.

Nooks have come a long way the last couple of years.  This one looks really nice.  I'll have to go play with one once it comes out.  I don't like touch screens as a general rule but I have a couple friends who have been wanting a e-reader and hate the Kindle's buttons.  This might be what they've been waiting for.

For those of you wanting to trade in your current readers - you should look into selling them used.  Kindles have a pretty high resell value, and I assume the Nook is the same way.  It's not as convenient as an official trade-in plan but you can probably get more from selling it yourself than you ever would have trading it in.
