the series is set. Chicago Cubs vs Cleveland Indians. I follow the Texas Rangers during the season so I am an American League guy. I'll be hoping the Indians can win but everybody seems to feel the Cubs are the best team in baseball so they will be heavily favored and will probably win.

I'm a Red Sox fan.  I would think the Cubs would win, but the way Cleveland just steamrolled over the teams in the post season (like my Red Sox!!!) I wouldn't be surprised to see Cleveland pull it off.  Interesting that both teams have ex-Red Sox members - Mike Napoli, Terry Francona and Coco Crisp for the Indians and Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer (front office guys) Jon Lester, John Lackey and David Ross.  I geuss we can win vicariously through whichever team wins.   How's that for hedging my bets?

Napoli played with the Texas Rangers one year when they went to a World Series. The fans loved him and the Rangers offered a big salary but he went to the Red Sox. I think he played with the Red Sox the year they all had beards.

Yes, he did.  He and Johny Gomes started that whole trend in 2013.   :)

An old baseball adage says good pitching beats good hitting. That seems to be true this year in the World Series.

You are right, Charles.  Jon Lester better come up with a doozy tonight or the Cubs will all be booking tee times tomorrow.

Well I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping Cleveland would do it. I think Chicago has sorta been destined all year to win. Cleveland had the pitching early in the series and if they could have ended the series in fewer games they might have had a chance, but the longer the series went it was obvious the Cubs hitting got better and better.

In the end, since the Cubs haven't won a world series in 108 years, I'm glad they are now the world champions.  But last nights game was a nail biter for sure.  It had a little of everything in it, home runs, tied scores, extra innings and a rain delay of 17 minutes.  Excellent series over all and both teams played their hearts out, neither left anything on the field.

Now, how many days are there until pitchers and catchers report for spring training?

before pitchers and catchers there will be the winter meetings and some trades so there will be a lot to talk about. My team the Texas Rangers have to pitching problems to fix and some players will be traded away. It was a bit shocking to see them win so many games this year and then get bounced out of the playoffs so quickly. as they say 'wait till next year'. BTW  that's the title of a great book by Doris Kearns Goodwin
