reviewed Battle Against the Sea: How the Dutch Made Holland on
This focuses mostly on the devastating 1953 flooding, but the style is simple and easy to comprehend. Included maps and b&w pictures show what dykes are and how they are made, and what happens when they fail. A dated book, perhaps, but a good glimpse into the past.
