Conclusion to the machine crusade. Not as fulfilling as the other precuser series. Cahracters a little wooden, with little development. No surprises. Of course a must read becasue it is the conclusion, but not a re=read like the other dune books.

This book could easliy have been titled: A Brief History of Dune because in the short 20 year subjective time period covered in the book many of the unique elements of the original Dune series come into being: Reverend Mothers, the Voice, Sand Worm riders, instantaneous star travel, the beginnings of the Trade Guild, the Swordmasters and House Corrino. We also see the apparent end of the Titans and Omnius. I didn't find the battle sequences to be nearly as interesting to read as Weber's or Card's in Ender's Game.

Follows the Dune genre fairly well though the plot is a little simplistic.

I got this book for my 13 year old son, he tore through it in two days! He also said it was great! Coming from him that is a high compliment!

An excellent book, I found the Legends of Dune series to be a much better read than the House Atreides/ Harkonnen/ Corrino series--they were still good. A great read, I wish there were more of the Legends series to read.
