I am almost done with the last book in the Firstborn series by Karen Kingsbury. I must say.... I've never connected with the characters in any other book has I have with the entire Baxter family (and their friends) in the Redemption and Firstborn series! I can't wait to start the Sunset series, except that means one thing... I'm almost done with the books!!! THEN WHAT?! It will be a very sad day when I can't spend an hour or two with Ashley, John, Kari, Erin, Brooke, or Luke... and of course all their spouses (won't say names for others who have not read the books!) If anyone hasn't read these series, I really recommend them! Kingsbury always has a way of dealing with "real" events of life, sometimes very painful and devastating... but always remembers the Joy of our Lord through the trial!

Does anyone know any other series (christian, please!) that connects you with the characters as strongly as you do in these books? I'd appreciate it!

I know exactly what you mean about them being real to you.  I've read all the books except Sunset.  I have it but haven't wanted to read their last story!!

Have you read the series that Terri Blackstock and Beverly La Haye wrote together Season of Blessing and 3 others. I think you would enjoy them similarly.  They follow the stories of families around a cul de sac.

Okay so the Baxter family is in both the First Born & Redemption series..which one comes first?

I have only read one book by Kingsbury so far...Like Dandelion Dust & really liked it but just haven't gotten around to reading more of hers b/c I'm trying to slim down my TBR mtn.

really?! I did not hear that the baxters would be in the new series!!! Oooohhhh now I'm all excited. :) I was hoping when I read the titles "take one" because it immediately made me think of Dayne's friend Randi Wells and was wondering if it would connect her somehow. Anyways, that's exciting!

Thanks for the suggestions to the other authors! I've read some of Dee Henderson, well her first book Danger in the Shadow's. I remember I enjoyed it alot, but I always found other books to spend the money on! Then again.... now that I'm a PBS'er, I really have no excuse..... *secretely reminds herself to add those books to her wish list....* :)

Hehe! Yes they do!!! I love her to death, even if she is stubborn! I have always loved pugs for as long as I can remember and my husband got her for me for a Valentine's present four years ago! She was so small he was able to hide her in his coat pocket!!! :)

Kim, you've got me interested in reading these books now. I know when the Yada Yada books ended I felt the way you feel now.

Shayla,

I do not know if you are aware or not but "Like Dandelion Dust" has been made into a movie.  It was filmed near where I live (Jacksonville, FL).  I am not sure when it will be in theatres but I think it will be sometime soon.  Karen was on the set here (along with two of her children Kelsey & Tyler). I was set up to go as an extra but was not able to participate due to my work schedule. I am really anticipating this movie as I know it will be great.

After much searching, I found something on the release of the "Dandelion Dust" movie.  Fluge.com shows a release date of 2/28!  I can't wait!!!

I love Karen Kingsbury as well although I haven't read this series yet. For a series where I REALLY connected with the characters and I never want to see it end, is Jan Karon's Mitford books. I really wish sometimes she hadn't started the series with the main character already 60 years old - it makes you wonder how far she can really take it. Unless of course she chooses to spin off and follow one of the younger characters at some point.

I also really connected with the family in Melanie Jeschke's Oxford Chronicles series.

If you liked the Mitford series you would absolutely LOVE the Baxter series.  They are awesome!

I agree with Bren on the Mitford series.  I hated to see it end too.  Also the Dee Henderson series (O'Malley Family) was great, although it's more Romantic suspense stuff.

If you can find them, the Tales from Grace Chapel Inn (published by Guideposts and written by various authors) is a series that I absolutely love for connecting with the characters.  Every one makes me want to go live in Acorn Hill, PA (which I don't even know if actually exists).

As I was reading this topic for the first time - I also thought of the Mitford series.  I love Father Tim and all the characters  in the Jan Karon's  books and I wish she would come out with  a new one.

I''ve found that the books going in and out of our Church library the fastest are the books by Karen Kingsbury.

Has anyone read the Wortham Family series by Leisha Kelly?  I enjoyed the first book, Julia's Hope,  but have not read the ones that follow.  I'm wondering if they're worth reading.

I really connected with the Baxters in the Redemption and Firstborn Series, and loved those books.   However I could not get into the Sunrise series at all.  It seemed like I was bored with the Baxters by then.  I wonder if anyone else felt this way.

As you all probably are aware, the movie "Like Dandelion Dust" did not come out in theatres in February.  Does anyone have any info on when it will be released. I have not been able to find any correct info on it.  I have seen 2/28 and Easter 2008.  Maybe it is Easter 2009.  I can't wait to see it.  KK is my favorite author!

I have been watching and looking at her website to see when the movie is going to be released. I read as many of her books as possible. Have any of you read the 911 series? It is also a fantastic series.

I just finished my first one.  It's One Tuesday Morning, the first in the 9/11 series.  I couldn't put it down and I cried through almost the whole book!  It was sooooo good!  I can't wait to read the rest.  I went to half.com and ordered the other two in the series plus a couple others.

Tammy - One Tuesday Morning connected me to 9/11 as no other book has, fiction or non-fiction.   I really relived that day over again through this book but this time with some HOPE.   The next two in the series are good, but not quite as good as the first one.
