hi everyone!

the family and I are going to the beach for a little over a week, and I really need a couple good books to read on the beach.

We will be on the beach everyday, and i read fast, and a lot. I would really appreciate some good beach reads!

thanks!

It's an oldie, but have you read The Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher? It's a nice, thick book with a story that takes place in the present-day and also in the WW II era, and part of it is set by the ocean in Cornwall. I love this story!

Bel Canto by Anne Patchet

A good, quick, read that will leave you wanting to learn more about opera.

When I'm at the beach, I love to read about other people at the beach.... Here are two of my favorites...

The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific by J. Maarten Troost

and an oldie but goodie - Treasure Island.

Hot Property by Carly Phillips! Also Lori Foster's series about the SBC fighters Causing Havoc, Simon Says and Hard to Handle! I have been reading by the pool and these are what I have read lately.

Whatever you choose have it be an AUDIO book!   You've gone to all the trouble and expense to get to the beach --- enjoy watching the waves and the seagulls (and the kids) while 'reading.'     Nothing I like more than walking the beach, looking for shells and other treasures while someone whispers a story in my ear.   Heaven!

Er     uh         it's not what most people probably mean by "beach book", but .....how about Rachel Carson's The Sea Around Us ?  And Nevil Shute's On the Beach is just about the ultimate NOT a "beach book".

Dorothea Benton Frank's books about South Carolina are an excellent choice.  Also try the Murder She Wrote series by Jessica Fletcher.

Gift from the Sea is one of my favorites.  I can't recommend The Mermaid chair, though.  It is a little too...something...not enjoyable, I guess, for several reasons.

Anything by James Patterson.... easy, fast, fun, "mind-candy" reads. Perfect for the beach!
