Excellent memoir of a girl's life in Afghanistan during royal rule, Soviet invasion, Taliban takeover and her return to the country after the fall of the Taliban.

This is the best of the books I have recently read about Afghanistan. Probably because the writer actually lived there for the first part of her young life. It really brings home all the losses the people of that country have endured starting back with the Soviet invasion.
