The Bedford Incident Author:Mark Rascovich This is a a novel of the sea during the Cold War. An American destroyer is on the track of a Soviet submarine whose mission is to probe NATO defenses based in Greenland.
What follows is a classic and engaging psychological drama loosely based on Ahab's hunt for Moby Dick.
For whatever reason, I love maritime fiction, especially naval war fiction. "The Bedford Incident" is one of my favorites, and I only posted my 1964 paperback copy because I recently came into possession of a hardback first edition.
The movie based on this book, staring Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier, is also excellent.
If you enjoy naval fiction, you will not be disappointed in this book.
