i read in a book that snails love beer...... i use empty water bottles... and cut off the drinking spout of them.... pour beer in about 1 inch deep.... i put the bottles all over the garden area... the snails/slugs go to get drunk...fall in...and drown...

my plants look much healthier now that there are less snails......

i put new beer containers as often as needed.... the first few days the bottles were full of snails.... kind of disgusting..but it works

Tried that, but didn't have much luck.  Once in a while I would get a drownd snail, but more often they just got drunk and wandered off to eat my plants.  We did have a rat that ate snails for a while, but he insisted on trying to live in our attic.  I'd rather have the snails.  Finally went with something called Sluggo, which is supposed to be harmless to everything exvcept snails.  So far seem to be working...

But when Sluggo gets wet, yucky mold.  Still, better than snails.  Or the snail eating skunks.

I've also used a board, put about an inch above the ground.  They all hang out under there during the day.  Then they get to go play in the busy street.
