reviewed Before they were HAWKS : Birth of the malevolent philosophy on
It's hard to put down a book when the main character, sixteen year old James Ballum, decides to commit suicide during a gang initiation but instead is felled by a shotgun blast from his childhood enemy, all in the first five chapters. Before they were HAWKS is the first book in the HAWKS Foundation series about a group of militant teenagers in surburban Massachusetts. If you love an ongoing series the second book Sevlow: Mission one is already available and is equally as excellent.
