Am reading this now, and enjoying it -- BUT: the errors on simple things like garden flowers and cooking are driving me nuts! Hyacinths bloom before lilacs! Peony bushes average 3' x 3' x 3' and don't grow in window boxes! Paella is not a Mexican dish. Ludicrous errors like this throughout the entire novel, and for that reason I'll nvr read this author again.

I love this author's style of writing and what a great story. This is the first in a series of 3. Can't wait to read the others.

Positives:

* This book moves really fast even though it's a bit long.
* The family that she moves in with is hilarious. It reminds me of the stories about hippies.
* She really grows up and you see that there is always a second chance.

Negatives:

* She never really understands her parents point of view. It's like they don't matter.
* The decisions are laid out for her.
* It's unknown if she really learns what she is supposed to, or if it's just things that she finds interesting. If we didn't have to learn everything then I would have never learned any math.

My first book by this author - I couldn't really get into it and I thought it was totally unrealistic.
