A friend of mine was looking through some books that I have to give away.  She was wondering why I thought they were unpostable.  I pointed out to her that I thought they were stained and she thought I was being picky.  So I thought I would ask for opinions.

Really I'm just picky about what I post, not so much about what I receive.  I have only marked one book RWAP as it was severely chewed on the front and the back.  I usually just give the sender the benefit of the doubt.

The first one may be considered foxing, but I don't think so as this is the only place with discoloration.  The rest of the pages are white.

This one is really strange.  It has bright florescent staining.  It reminds me of looking at stains under a black light.  I'm thinking I may just throw it away.

So what do you all think?  Being picky or unpostable?

I'm with you on those being unpostable.  The second one kind of looks like it might be a bleach-type stain. If those were my books, I think I would toss them in the donate pile, just to be on the safe side.

Unpostable - no question. Both books have stains, stains make a book unpostable.

BTW If your friend thinks you are being picky, I don't want to order from her shelf.

Thanks for your replies.  It's exactly what I thought too!  It's funny that before joining here I would pick up used books and didn't give a second thought to the condition (unless it was just gross).  Now I look at a book and start judging it for postability!

It's not picky as far as PBS goes.  Would I take them as a freebie or pay a quarter for them at the thrift store? Sure if they were something I wanted to read.  Would I be happy to get them for a $2.50 PBS credit? Nope.

I think it might make me feel better to vent a little. I hope that's okay.

I just got this in the mail.

As it was wrapped very well, I assumed it was missed by the sender. Sometimes the bottom of the book is easy to miss. I marked it RWAP and the member said that the book was checked thorougly and it was in "new condition." I told them they missed it, but again the member states it was "like new" when it was mailed. So I guess the member believes I'm trying to bilk a credit?? What the...

I have been wishing for this book since 2007... :( Sorry to take over the thread but I'm so disappointed and sad. I hate the hassle.

I recently received two books that were damaged and got the silent treatment from one member and am being called a liar by the other. :(
